2008–09 EHF Women's Champions League
The EHF Women's Champions League 2008/09 was the 16th edition of the EHF Women's Champions League, a team handball, handball competition for top women's clubs of Europe managed by the European Handball Federation. It was won by Danish club Viborg HK who defeated Hungarian Győri Audi ETO KC at the finals with an aggregate score of 50–49. It was the second title for Viborg and the fifth for a Denmark, Danish team. German international Grit Jurack was the tournament's top scorer with 113 goals. EHF Women's Champions League
The Women's EHF Champions League is the competition for the top women's handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating. Tournament structure Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 27 nations are allowed to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The national federations are allowed to request extra places or upgrades from the EHF Cup. The EHF Champions League is divided into five stages. Depending on the ranking of their national federation and of the criteria list, teams can enter the competition in either qualification or the group phase. Anita Görbicz
Anita Görbicz (born 13 May 1983) is a former Hungarian handballer who played for Győri Audi ETO KC and the Hungary national team. She is widely regarded as one of the best handball players of all time, and was voted IHF World Player of the Year in 2005 by the International Handball Federation. Görbicz has also been given the nickname the ''Queen of Handball'' internationally. She is married; her husband is Ottó Vincze, a Hungarian former football player. They have two sons, Boldizsár, born in 2015 and Domonkos, born in 2022. She is the ''Honorary Citizen'' of Győr. Career Club Anita Görbicz started her career at Hungarian club Győri Audi ETO KC in 1993, aged 10. She has become a key member of the team and her absence is considered a notable disadvantage. Alexandra Priscila do Nascimento Martínez (born 16 September 1981) is a Brazilian former handball player. She played in the Brazil women's national handball team, Brazilian national team. Career She was born in 1981 in Limeira (São Paulo) but she soon moved to Espírito Santo where she grew up. She moved to Austria in 2004. Valentina-Neli Ardean-Elisei (born 5 June 1982) is a Romanian handballer for Gloria Bistrița. Since 26 September 2019, she is retired from the Romanian national team.
