2008–09 Bradford City A.F.C. Season
The 2008–09 season was the 106th season in Bradford City A.F.C.'s history, their 94th in The Football League and 96th in the league system of English football. Their 10th-place finish in 2007–08 meant it would be their second successive season in League Two. This article covers a period from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009. Background Stuart McCall had been appointed Bradford City's new manager ahead of the club's 2007–08 League Two campaign. He had targeted promotion during his first season, but the club were in the bottom half of the league until after the New Year and could only finish tenth, 16 points outside the play-off spots. McCall released 13 players at the end of the season, and also lost his captain, David Wetherall, who decided to retire, and Luke Medley, who turned down a new contract in favour of a return to his home in London. Bradford is a city status in the United Kingdom, city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. The city is in the Pennines' eastern foothills on the banks of the Bradford Beck. Jonathan Peter McLaughlin (born 9 September 1987) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Scottish Premiership club Rangers. Guiseley A
Guiseley ( ) is a town in metropolitan borough of the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated south of Otley and Menston and is now a north-western suburb of Leeds. It sits in the Guiseley and Rawdon ward of Leeds City Council and the Pudsey parliamentary constituency. Bradford Derby
The Bradford derby is a football derby match played between Bradford City and Bradford (Park Avenue). The derby has also been called the Wool City derby, referring to Bradford's history with the wool trade. The two clubs are the only two from Bradford to have played professional league football. The rivalry was first played in 1912 in the FA Cup, and there were 56 competitive matches between the teams, ending in 1969. Michael Boulding
Michael Thomas Boulding (born 8 February 1976) is an English former professional footballer and tennis player. As a footballer he was a forward and winger from 1998 to 2011. Prior to his football career, he was a promising young tennis player, ranking among the top 20 players in Britain. Born in Sheffield, England, Boulding excelled at both football and tennis, but chose to adopt the latter after he was spotted by coach Tony Pickard, who trained Boulding for 10 years. However, having continued to train as a footballer and play in the non-league with Hallam, he finished his tennis career in 1999, when he turned a professional footballer with Mansfield Town. Rory Boulding
Rory Joseph Boulding (born 21 July 1988) is an English former footballer who played as a striker or winger from 2006 until 2015. Boulding started his career alongside his elder brother Michael at Mansfield Town. He had loan spells with Ilkeston Town and Hucknall Town before he joined Bradford City along with his brother in 2008. In 2010, he joined Accrington Stanley, before heading to Scotland in 2011, where he has played for Livingston, Kilmarnock, Dundee United and Falkirk before rejoining Livingston for a second spell in 2015. Nicholas Vincent Colgan (born 19 September 1973) is an Irish football coach and former professional footballer who is goalkeeping coach at EFL League Two side Stockport County. As a player, he was a goalkeeper from 1991 to 2013 and first briefly played for his hometown club Drogheda United between 1991 and 1992 before signing for Premier League side Chelsea. Barry John Conlon (born 1 October 1978) is an Irish former professional footballer and Head Coach of New York-based LMFC Blue Jaguars As a player he was a striker from 1996 to 2013. Farsley Celtic A
Farsley is a town in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, West Yorkshire, England to the west of Leeds city centre, east of Bradford. Farsley is situated between the two cities and near the town of Pudsey. Before April 1974, Farsley was part of the Borough of Pudsey. Before 1934 it was its own urban district council. Paul McLaren
Paul Andrew McLaren (born 17 November 1976) is an English former professional footballer who last played for Oxford United in 2012. He was born in High Wycombe. Career He began his career as a trainee for Luton Town, playing over 160 games over eight seasons.
