2008–09 Austrian Cup
The 2008–09 Austrian Cup (german: ÖFB-Cup, also ''Stiegl-Cup'' for sponsoring purposes) was the 75th season of Austria's nationwide football cup competition. It started on July 18, 2008 with the first game of the preliminary round. The final was held at the Pappelstadion, Mattersburg on 16 May 2009. The competition was won by FK Austria Wien, Austria Vienna after beating FC Trenkwalder Admira, Trenkwalder Admira 3–1 Extra time, after extra time. It was the 27th Austrian Cup title for the team from Vienna, who also qualified for the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League#Third_qualifying_round, third qualifying round of the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League in the process. SV Ried is an Austrian association football club from Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria. The team plays its home matches at Josko Arena, a stadium with a capacity of 7,680. SV Mattersburg was an Austrian association football club from Mattersburg, Burgenland. History The club was formed in 1922 and played its home games at the 17,100 capacity Pappelstadion. DSV Leoben is an Austrian association football club based in Leoben. It was founded in 1928. They play at the Donawitz Stadium. History WSV Donawitz The club was founded on 1 February 1928 opgericht as ''Werkssportverein Donawitz'', playing in green-white colours.
