2008 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships
The 2008 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships took place between 7 and 9 March 2008 in Gangneung, South Korea. The World Championships are organised by the ISU which also run world cups and championships in speed skating and figure skating. Results Men * First place is awarded 34 points, second is awarded 21 points, third is awarded 13 points, fourth is awarded 8 points, fifth is awarded 5 points, sixth is awarded 3 points, seventh is awarded 2 points and eighth is awarded 1 point in the finals of each individual race to determine the overall world champion. The relays do not count for the overall classification. Gangneung

Jon Eley (born 19 August 1984 in Solihull) is a British short track speed skater who competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics, the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2014 Winter Olympics. Eley finished fifth in the 500 metres in Torino, and was a member of the British team that finished sixth in the 5000 metre relay in Vancouver. Eley was part of the British 5,000m relay team that broke the world record in February 2011. Jessica Gregg (born March 16, 1988) is a former Canadian short track speed skater. Personal life Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Jessica comes from a strong pedigree of skaters as her mother Kathy Vogt was a two time Olympian in the sport and her father Dr. Randy Gregg was a member of the Edmonton Oilers dynasty in the 1980s. Her sister Sarah Gregg was an international speed skater and her brother Jamie Gregg was a member of the national team for the 500 m in Long Track Speed Skating; who joined his sister at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. Career Jessica Gregg was the only member of the 2010 Canadian Olympic short track team outside of Quebec. Park Seung-hi
Park Seung-hi (; born 28 March 1992) is a former South Korean short track and long track speed skater. She is the 2010 Overall World Champion. She won two gold medals and three bronze medals at 2010 Winter Olympics and 2014 Winter Olympics. Her sister is Park Seung-ju, a long track speed skater, and her brother Park Se-yeong, a short track speed skater. She switched to long-track speed skating after the 2014 Sochi Olympics. After the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics Park announced her retirement from speedskating. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics, she competed in four events. In her first event, the 500 m, she was disqualified in the quarterfinals. Three days later, she competed in the 1500 m. Kalyna Roberge
Kalyna Roberge (born October 1, 1986) is a Canadian short track speed skater. Born in Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon, Quebec, Roberge has won a gold medal in the 3000m relay at the 2005 World Championships. She also placed third overall at the 2005 World Junior Championships including a gold medal in the 500m. She also won a gold medal at a World Cup event in the Netherlands in the 3000m relay. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Roberge placed fourth in the 500m. Along with Alanna Kraus, Tania Vicent and Anouk Leblanc-Boucher, Roberge won a silver medal in the 3000m relay. Zhou Yang (; ; born 9 June 1991) is a female Chinese short track speed skater. She won the gold medal in the 1500 m event at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Wang Meng (; born April 10, 1985 in Qitaihe, Heilongjiang) is a Chinese short track speed skater. She is a four-time Olympic Champion and 2008 and 2009 Overall World Champion. She is the most decorated Chinese Winter Olympic athlete ever with four Olympic gold medals, a silver and a bronze. Wang won gold in the 500 m event, silver in the 1000 m and bronze in the 1500 m event at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
