2008 Vallelunga Superleague Formula Round
The 2008 Vallelunga Superleague Formula round was the fifth round of the inaugural Superleague Formula championship, with the races taking place on November 2, 2008. Eighteen football teams were represented on the grid, the same number of teams as there was at the previous three rounds. There were two driver changes before this round of the championship and one during the round: Duncan Tappy returned to the Tottenham Hotspur cockpit replacing Dominik Jackson, having missed the previous round in Portugal and Kasper Andersen was replaced by Stamatis Katsimis in the Olympiacos CFP car. Having broken a bone in his right hand in practice, Paul Meijer was replaced by Dominick Muermans in the Al Ain car – becoming their fourth driver in five races. 2008 Superleague Formula Season
The 2008 Superleague Formula season was the inaugural Superleague Formula championship. The season started very late in 2008 with the first round being on August 31 at Donington Park. There were six rounds (twelve races) in total with the successful season finale at Circuito Permanente de Jerez on 23 November. In the 18 cars on the grid were established A1GP and GP2 drivers as well as two ex-Formula One race starters, Robert Doornbos and Antônio Pizzonia. Beijing Guoan (Superleague Formula team), Beijing Guoan, run under former Formula One team Zakspeed with driver Davide Rigon, were eventually crowned the first ever champions at the last event of the season. Borja García (racing Driver)
Borja García Menéndez (born 15 December 1982 in Valencia) is a Spanish racing driver. He last competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, having last driven for Alex Caffi Motorsport in a part-time effort in 2018. He was the 2004 Spanish Formula Three champion, and raced in the inaugural GP2 Series season. Career Garcia was born in Valencia. His career started in karting in 1993, where he stayed until 1999. He moved up to Spanish Formula Toyota in 2000, comfortably winning the title, before moving to Formula Nissan 2000 in 2001 with the Campos team, who now race in GP2 Series. He stayed in Nissan 2000 for 2002, driving for both the Esuela Lois and Venturini teams, whilst also racing some of the Spanish Formula Three season for the GTA team. Sport Club Corinthians Paulista Superleague Formula team is the racing team of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, a football team that competes in Brazil in the Série A. Antônio Reginaldo Pizzonia Júnior (born 11 September 1980) is a Brazilian professional racing driver who has raced in Formula One and the Champ Car World Series. Born in Manaus, he started his car racing career in the Formula Vauxhall Junior series in 1997, and then progressed through various junior formulae, winning the Formula Vauxhall Junior Winter Festival in 1997, the Formula Vauxhall Junior and Formula Renault Winter Festival in 1998, the Formula Renault 2.0 UK in 1999, and the British Formula 3 Championship in 2000. For 2001 and 2002, he entered the Formula 3000, with his best championship finish being sixth in 2001. In 2003, he was signed by the Jaguar Formula One team, but following poor results, was released during the season. Al Ain Superleague Formula team was a motor racing team representing the UAE's Al Ain Club in the Superleague Formula championship. 2008 and 2009 seasons They finished 12th in the inaugural championship with drivers Andreas Zuber, Bertrand Baguette, Paul Meijer and Dominick Muermans. It was initially announced that Giorgio Pantano would drive for the team in the second SF season, but it was then announced they would not return. However, days later, they were added to the official entry list once again and participated in the first 2 rounds of the season, represented by Spain's Miguel Molina in round 1 and Argentina's Esteban Guerrieri in round 2. However, despite winning the 2nd race at Zolder with series debutant Guerrieri, they were replaced by Sevilla FC from round 3 of the championship. Dominick Muermans (born 17 July 1984 in Geleen, Netherlands) is a Dutch racing driver. Dominick raced full-time in the Atlantic Championship in the 2008 season. Paul Ronald Johan Meijer (born 27 March 1985 in Utrecht) is a Dutch racing driver. He is a former Benelux Formula Renault champion. Career As many formula drivers, Paul started his career in karting at the age of 10. He participated in national and international competitions. In 2001 Paul participated in a Challenge organized by Avaya Communications, with 7 candidates. He won the Challenge and earned a season driving in the first Dutch Toyota Yaris Cup for free. The ex Formula One racing driver Jan Lammers took Paul into the Formula Ford in 2002. With Racing for Holland Paul learned the essentials about driving a formula racing car and participated in the Benelux Formula Ford Championship. Olympiacos CFP Superleague Formula team is the racing team of Olympiacos CFP, a major Greek multi-sport club, based in Piraeus, Athens. The Olympiacos CFP racing team competes in the Superleague Formula. It has been operated by GU-Racing International in both seasons. Dominik Jackson (born 21 April 1984 in Scampton, Lincolnshire) is a British racing driver. He started his career in UK karting, before going to Germany to compete in the Formula BMW ADAC Series. He has also raced in Formula Palmer Audi. Due to his lack of funding, he very rarely competes a full series championship. His last current drive was for Tottenham Hotspur in the Superleague Formula in the 2008 season for the Portuguese round.
