2008 UEC European Track Championships – Women's Under-23 Scratch
The U23 Women's scratch was one of the 8 women's under-23 events at the 2008 European Track Championships, held in Pruszków, Poland. It took place on 7 September 2008. 23 cyclists were on the start list and 22 participated in the race. Competition format A scratch race is a race in which all riders start together and the object is simply to be first over the finish line after a certain number of laps. There are no intermediate points or sprints. UEC European Champion Jersey
The UEC European Champion jersey is the distinctive, identifiable jersey that the winner of a bicycle race receives at European Cycling Championships organized by the European Cycling Union (UEC), such as the European Road Championships and the European Track Championships. The jersey is predominantly blue with gold European stars. The jerseys are awarded in all cycling disciplines, including road cycling, track cycling, cyclo-cross, BMX, mountain biking and indoor cycling. The jerseys are provided by Santini SMS. Katie Amanda Colclough (born 20 January 1990 ) is a retired English road and track cyclist from Frieston near Grantham, Lincolnshire, and a former member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Squad. Colclough began cycling competitively in 2004, the following year she was selected to ride for British Cycling's Talent Team. She joined the Olympic Development Programme in 2006. In 2008-2009 Colclough rode road races with Team Halfords Bikehut. In 2011, she signed with the professional team (now known as ). Colclough was part of the Specialized–lululemon squad which won the team time trial at the 2013 UCI Road World Championships, where she announced that she would be retiring from the sport after the road race.
