2008 Toppserien
The 2008 season of the ''Toppserien'', the highest women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 12 April 2008 and ended on 2 November 2008. 22 games were played with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Number eleven and twelve were relegated, while the two top teams from the First Division were promoted. Røa won the league, defending their title. Asker went defunct after the season, but relocated their team to Stabæk. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Rosenborg Ballklub Kvinner (previously known as Sportsklubben Trondheims-Ørn) is a Norwegian women's professional football club in Trondheim, Trøndelag. History The club was founded as a multi-sports club on May 18, 1917, and became a member of the Workers' Sports Federation in the 1920s. It was first based in Lademoen and had a clubhouse at Buran between 1946 and the 1960s. It had sections for men's football, Nordic skiing, speed skating, track and field, and swimming. Team handball followed in 1952, and ice hockey in 1961. The women's football section was established in 1972, twelve years before a national league was organized. The men's football team and all other sports were discontinued in 1984, so that only the women's football section survived. FK Fortuna Ålesund
AaFK Fortuna (formerly known as FK Fortuna Ålesund) is a Norwegian women's football club from Ålesund that currently competes in 2. divisjon, the third tier of Norwegian football. It is named after Fortuna of Roman mythology. History The club was founded on 25 August 1991 by outbreakers from SK Guard, and merged with Spjelkavik IL in 1995. They played as Spjelkavik IL/Fortuna in the 1995 season, and was named FK Fortuna Ålesund in 1996. The club's home grounds are Aksla Stadion and (sometimes) Color Line Stadion. After playing 1995–2008 at the second level, the club was promoted and debuted in the 2009 Toppserien, but finished in last position and was relegated. Idrettslaget Sandviken is a Norwegian sports club from the neighborhood of Sandviken in Bergenhus borough, Bergen. It has sections for basketball, football and handball. Kristin Lie
Kristin Lie (born 13 December 1978) is a Norwegian footballer who played as a striker for Egge. She was also capped while playing for Norway. Career Lie was born in Steinkjer and grew up in Namdalseid in Nord Trøndelag, where she started her football career with three local clubs, Namdalseid, Beitstad and Verdal. She joined Trondheims-Ørn in 1999. Lie was the team's top scorer in four consecutive seasons from 2006 to 2009 and also became top scorer in the 2007 Toppserien. With Trondheims-Ørn, Lie won the Toppserien in 2000, 2001 and 2003, and the Norwegian Women's Cup in 1999, 2001 and 2003. Una Obiose Kriston Nwajei (born 7 March 1977) is a Nigerian-born English former footballer. She played as a striker for Amazon Grimstad and has represented England at international level. Club career Nwajei began playing for Southampton Saints in the FA Women's Premier League National Division while attending Southampton Institute. Her form won her an international call-up and a professional contract with Fulham early in the 2002–03 season. When Fulham won the treble that season then reverted to semi-pro status, Nwajei followed teammate Margunn Haugenes to Norwegian club Amazon Grimstad. Elise Hove Thorsnes (born 14 August 1988) is a Norwegian Association football, footballer who plays as a Forward (association football), forward for Vålerenga Fotball Damer, Vålerenga and the Norway women's national football team, Norwegian national team. Lise Klaveness (born 19 April 1981) is a Norwegian lawyer and former footballer who played 73 matches for Norway's national team between 2002 and 2011. She is currently the president of the Norwegian Football Federation. Since assuming her leadership role in March of 2022 Klaveness has advocated for change within Fifa, particularly as related to the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Lindy Melissa Løvbræk Wiik (born 7 February 1985 in Slemmestad) is a Norwegian footballer who plays for Urædd FK and the Norway national team. Career Asker played in the elite Toppserien league in Norway, and Wiik was the league's top scorer of the 2007 season, with 22 goals from 22 matches. At the start of 2009 Wiik with most of the other Asker players joined the newly formed Stabæk Fotball Kvinner, continuing in the Toppserien. Lene Mykjåland (born 20 February 1987) is a Norwegian footballer who played for LSK Kvinner and the Norway women's national team, having made her debut for the senior team on 7 March 2007, in a 1–2 loss against Germany. Career Mykjåland started her career in Randesund IL, a district club in Kristiansand. In 2003, Mykjåland played with Amazon Grimstad and played there until she went on to Røa in September 2005.
