The 2008 Sun Belt Conference football season was an NCAA football season that was played from August 28, 2008, to December 26, 2008. The Sun Belt Conference consisted of 8 football members: Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, and Troy. Troy won the Sun Belt Championship but lost the Southern Miss in the New Orleans Bowl. 2008 Florida Atlantic Owls Football Team
The 2008 Florida Atlantic University Owls football team represented Florida Atlantic University in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. 2008 Central Michigan Chippewas Football Team
The 2008 Central Michigan Chippewas football team represented Central Michigan University during the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Central Michigan competed as a member of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Chippewas were led by second-year head coach Butch Jones. Central Michigan finished the regular season with an 8–4 overall record and 6–2 in conference play, which was good enough for second place in the MAC West. The team received a bid to the 2008 Motor City Bowl, where they faced the Florida Atlantic Owls led by head coach Howard Schnellenberger. The 2008 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl was the eighth edition of the college football bowl game, played at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Southern Miss Golden Eagles defeated the Troy Trojans, 30–27 in a dramatic overtime game. 2008 FIU Golden Panthers Football Team
The 2008 FIU Golden Panthers football team represented Florida International University in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
