2008 SMU Mustangs Football Team
The 2008 SMU Mustangs football team represented Southern Methodist University (SMU) as a member the West Division of Conference USA (C-USA) during the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by first-year head coach June Jones, the Mustangs compiled an overall record of 1–11 with a mark of 0–8 in conference play, placing last of out of six teams in C-USA's West Division. SMU played their home games at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in University Park, Texas. Previous season The 2007 team finished with an overall record of 1–11; the team's only win was against North Texas. Conference USA
Conference USA (C-USA or CUSA) is an intercollegiate athletic conference whose current member institutions are located within the Southern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I in all sports. C-USA's offices are located in Dallas, Texas. History C-USA was founded in 1995 by the merger of the Metro Conference and Great Midwest Conference, two Division I conferences that did not sponsor football. However, the merger did not include either Great Midwest member Dayton or Metro members VCU and Virginia Tech. 2008 Texas State Bobcats Football Team
The 2008 Texas State Bobcats football team represented Texas State University–San Marcos in the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Bobcats led by second year head coach Brad Wright, played their home games at Bobcat Stadium as a member of the Southland Conference. They finished the season with a record of eight wins and five losses (8–5, 5–2 Southland). Despite finishing in second place in conference play, they earned the Southland Conference's automatic bid, due to the conference champion Central Arkansas being ineligible for the postseason due to their transition period after moving up from Division II. FBC Mortgage Stadium (formerly known as Bright House Networks Stadium and Spectrum Stadium, also known as the Bounce House) is an American football stadium located in Orlando, Florida, United States, on the main campus of the University of Central Florida. Their head coach was George O'Leary, in his fifth season with the team. The SMU–TCU football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the SMU Mustangs football team of Southern Methodist University (SMU) and TCU Horned Frogs football of Texas Christian University (TCU).
