2008 Super 14 Season
The 2008 Super 14 season started in February 2008 with pre-season matches held from mid-January. It finished on 31 May, when the Crusaders won their seventh Super Rugby title with a 20–12 victory over the Waratahs in front of the Crusaders' home fans at AMI Stadium. The 2008 season was the third of the expansion, which led to the name change to the Super 14. The schedule, which covered 3½ months, featured a total of 94 matches, with each team playing one full round robin against the 13 other teams, two semi-finals and a final. Every team received one bye over the 14 rounds. Van Humphries (born 8 January 1976 in Moree, New South Wales) is an Australian rugby union player for the Queensland Reds in the Super Rugby competition. Career Humphries returned to Australia in 2007 and played for the Western Sydney Rams in the ill-fated Australian Rugby Championship and was the form lock of the competition until a broken leg cut his season short. Stormers
The Stormers (known for sponsorship reasons as the DHL Stormers) is a South African professional rugby union team based in Cape Town in the Western Cape that competes in the United Rugby Championship, a trans-hemispheric competition that also involves sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Peter Playford
Peter Playford (born 11 July 1980) is an Australian rugby union football coach and a former professional player for the Waratahs and Brumbies on the wing. Playford was head coach of the Sydney Stars team for the 2015 season of the National Rugby Championship. One of his nicknames is P² (P squared). Early life Peter Playford was born in Sydney. He attended St. Joseph's College and was selected for the Australian Schoolboys team. Rugby career Playford made his state debut for the Waratahs in 2000 against Argentina. Ben Alexander (born 13 November 1984) is an Australian rugby union and finska player. He plays first-tier, professional rugby for the Greater Sydney Rams in the Australian domestic National Rugby Championship competition and for the Brumbies in the Super Rugby competition. Mark Gerrard (born 4 September 1982) is a former Australian professional rugby union footballer. He currently is the assistant coach for the Austin Gilgronis in Major League Rugby (MLR) competition in the United States. In 2011, he was one of 10 players nominated to become the competition's Super Rugby player of the year. Mark Chisholm
Mark Chisholm (born 18 September 1981) is a retired Australian rugby union player. Chisholm usually played as a lock, but could also cover blindside flanker. Career Chisholm represented Australia's under-19 side in 2000 as well as being named QRU Colt of the season for his club Wests Bulldogs. He also played for the under-21 side in 2001 and 2002. He spent the 2002 Super 12 season with the Queensland Reds as a product of the Energex Reds College. The following season he moved to the Brumbies and made his Super 12 debut for the side that season in a game against the Cats in Johannesburg as a replacement, he went on to play in six more matches that season. The ACT Brumbies (known from 2005–2022 as simply the Brumbies) is an Australian professional rugby union team based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), The team competes in Super Rugby and named for the brumby, feral horses which inhabit the capital's hinterland.
