The 2008 WNBA season was the tenth season for the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx were not able to return to the postseason for the first time since 2004. Don Zierden
Donald Casper Zierden, Jr. is an American basketball coach. From 2007 to 2009, Zierden served as the head coach of the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Early life and education Zierden, a Minneapolis native, graduated from DeLaSalle High School (Minneapolis), DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis and later from Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, Wisconsin in 1981. Coaching career He returned to DeLaSalle High in 1984 to become head varsity basketball coach and led DeLaSalle to the Minnesota Class A title in his first season. In two seasons at DeLaSalle, Zierden had a 61–14 record as head coach. In 1986, Zierden moved to the collegiate ranks to be an assistant coach at the Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's basketball, University of Tulsa under J. D. Barnett. Detroit Shock
The Detroit Shock were a Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. They were the 2003, 2006, and 2008 WNBA champions. Debuting in 1998, the Shock were one of the league's first expansion franchises. They were also the first WNBA expansion franchise to win a WNBA Championship. The team was the sister team of the Detroit Pistons and from 2002 to the 2009 season was coached by Pistons legend Bill Laimbeer. On October 20, 2009, it was announced that the Shock would be moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play in the new downtown arena, the BOK Center. Former men's college coach Nolan Richardson was named the team's new head coach. Navonda Moore
Navonda Moore (born November 4, 1984) is an American professional women's basketball player in the WNBA, previously playing for the Minnesota Lynx. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Moore attended college at the University of Alabama and graduated in 2007. Following her collegiate career with Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball, she joined the Lynx as a free agent. As an undrafted rookie, Moore struggled to get into the Lynx rotation. She averaged 4.6 minutes and 1.1 points in 19 games. Noelle Quinn
Noelle Quinn (born January 3, 1985) is a basketball coach and former player who is currently the head coach for the Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). As a player, Quinn played for many WNBA teams and for Botaş SK of the Turkish Women's Basketball League. High school Born in Los Angeles, California, Quinn played for Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, California, where she was named a WBCA All-American. She participated in the 2003 WBCA High School All-America Game where she scored eleven points. Lindsey Harding
Lindsey Marcie Harding (born June 12, 1984) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. She serves as player development coach of the Sacramento Kings. Throughout her playing career, Harding played for the Minnesota Lynx, Washington Mystics, Atlanta Dream, Los Angeles Sparks, New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and has played overseas in Turkey and Russia. She was previously a scout and a player development coach for the Philadelphia 76ers. She was born in Mobile, Alabama, but grew up in Houston, Texas and also holds a Belarusian passport. Seimone Augustus
Seimone Delicia Augustus (born April 30, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player who is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted first overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2006 draft and, but for her final season in 2020 with the Sparks, played her entire career with Minnesota. An eight-time All-Star and the 2008 finals MVP, Augustus lead the Lynx to four WNBA championships. Augustus is one of the most recognizable faces in the WNBA. In addition to the WNBA, she played the U.S. national team and overseas for Dynamo Kursk. In 2020, she retired as a player and became a Sparks assistant coach for the 2021 season. Vanessa L'asonya Hayden-Johnson (born June 5, 1982), née Vanessa L'asonya Hayden, is an American former college and professional basketball player who was a center in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) for five seasons in the 2000s. Nicole Katherine Ohlde (born March 13, 1982) is a former American professional basketball player. She most recently played for the Phoenix Mercury and the Tulsa Shock of the Women's National Basketball Association. College years Born in Clay Center, Kansas, Ohlde played collegiately at Kansas State University, where she was a two-time, first-team All-American (2003, 2004). The Washington Mystics are an American professional basketball team based in Washington, D.C. The Mystics compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference. Amber Jacobs (born June 29, 1982) is a former professional basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), for the Los Angeles Sparks. She then became the assistant athletic director for Clarks Summit University and their head women's basketball coach. Prior to that, Jacobs was an assistant coach at the University of Rhode Island women's basketball team under her former head coach at Boston College Cathy Inglese. After attending Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, Jacobs attended college at Boston College and graduated in 2004. The Virginia Cavaliers, also known as ''Wahoos'' or ''Hoos'', are the athletic teams representing the University of Virginia, located in Charlottesville.
