2008 Indiana Fever Season
The 2008 Indiana Fever season was their 9th season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). They finished 4th in the Eastern Conference with 17 wins and 17 losses on the season. The season marked the fourth consecutive season that the Fever earned a playoff berth. They were eliminated in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals 2–1 by the Detroit Shock. Offseason On October 26, 2007 the Fever announced that they declined the option for head coach, Brian Winters, ending his four-year tenure as head coach. On December 12, 2007 assistant coach Lin Dunn was named as the replacement for Winters. In one of the biggest trades in WNBA history the Fever traded Tamika Whitmore and their first-round pick in the 2008 WNBA draft to the Connecticut Sun for Indianapolis native Katie Douglas on February 19, 2008. Detroit Shock
The Detroit Shock were a Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. They were the 2003, 2006, and 2008 WNBA champions. Debuting in 1998, the Shock were one of the league's first expansion franchises. They were also the first WNBA expansion franchise to win a WNBA Championship. The team was the sister team of the Detroit Pistons and from 2002 to the 2009 season was coached by Pistons legend Bill Laimbeer. On October 20, 2009, it was announced that the Shock would be moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play in the new downtown arena, the BOK Center. Atlanta Dream
The Atlanta Dream are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta, playing in the Eastern Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded for the 2008 WNBA season. The team is owned by real estate investors Larry Gottesdiener, Suzanne Abair and former Dream player Renee Montgomery. Although the Dream share the Atlanta market with the National Basketball Association's Hawks, the Dream is not affiliated with its NBA counterpart. The Dream play at the Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. Allison Feaster
Allison Sharlene Feaster-Strong (born February 11, 1976) is a retired American professional basketball player. Feaster-Strong played in the Women's National Basketball Association from 1998 through 2008, for the Los Angeles Sparks, Charlotte Sting, and Indiana Fever. She played professionally in Europe from 1998 through 2016 for teams in Portugal, France, Spain, and Italy. She retired from professional basketball on August 8, 2016. The Sacramento Monarchs were a basketball team based in Sacramento, California. They played in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 1997 until folding on November 20, 2009. They played their home games at ARCO Arena. The Chicago Sky are an American professional basketball team based in Chicago. Jessica Mary Ellen Foley (born 20 April 1983) is a retired Australian basketballer and Australian rules footballer. As a basketballer, Foley represented Australia at both junior and senior levels and played for Duke in college basketball in the United States.
