2008 Georgia Bulldogs Baseball Team
The 2008 Georgia Bulldogs baseball team represented the University of Georgia in the 2008 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Foley Field. The team was coached by David Perno in his 7th season at Georgia. The Bulldogs lost the College World Series, defeated by the Fresno State Bulldogs in the championship series. David Perno
David Perno is the former head baseball coach at the University of Georgia. In 11 seasons he compiled a record of 384-329-1. He led the program to five NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, NCAA tournaments, including three College World Series. He was named the 2004 Coach of the Year by Baseball America. That same year, he won his first SEC championship. His 2006 team went 47–23, but the next year, however, they went 23–33. In 2008, his team did much better, going 45–25–1 (20–9–1 SEC) and won his second SEC championship. That one tie was at LSU Tigers, LSU due to an SEC travel curfew. He was named the SEC coach of the year and was the national runner-up to the Fresno State Bulldogs at the College World Series. He is a former player and assistant coach at Georgia. Kennesaw, Georgia
Kennesaw is a suburban city northwest of Atlanta in Cobb County, Georgia, United States, located within the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Known from its original settlement in the 1830s until 1887 as Big Shanty, it became Kennesaw under its 1887 charter. Fred Stillwell Stadium is a baseball venue located in Kennesaw, Georgia, USA. It is home to the Kennesaw State Owls of the NCAA Division I ASUN Conference. Stillwell Stadium has been home to the program since its 1984 inception. Its seating capacity is 1,200 spectators. The park features seating from bullpen to bullpen and also terrace-style seating beyond the left field fence. A press box is located behind home plate. Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium is a baseball venue located in Tallahassee, Florida, United States, located adjacent to Doak Campbell Stadium on the campus of Florida State University.
