2008 European Amateur Team Championship
The 2008 European Amateur Team Championship took place 1–5 July at Royal Park Golf & Country Club in Fiano, Italy. It was the 26th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. It was the first time the championship was played in consecutive years, since its inauguration in 1959. Venue The club was founded in 1971 by the Agnelli family. Its first course, the Allianz Course, a parkland and forest course, in Fiano, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) northwest of Turin, in the region Piedmont, Italy, was designed the same year by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Format Each team consisted of 6 players, playing two rounds of stroke-play over two days, counting the five best scores each day for each team. The Agnelli family () is an Italian multi-industry business dynasty founded by Giovanni Agnelli, one of the original founders of the Fiat motor company which became Italy's largest automobile manufacturer. Sam Hutsby
Sam Hutsby (born 29 October 1988) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Hutsby had a successful amateur career, working under the tutelage of golf coach Sam Torrance until they broke up in June 2008. In 2009 he lost the finals of The Amateur Championship at Formby Golf Club to Matteo Manassero, the youngest winner ever. He won the Spanish Amateur in 2006, which allowed him to play in the Spanish Open, and lost the Spanish finals to Reinier Saxton in 2009. In April 2009, Hutsby was 6th on the World Amateur Golf Ranking, the highest ranked English player at that time. He played the Walker Cup in 2009, losing his first singles, winning the Sunday foursomes with Wallace Booth and the Sunday singles, becoming the team's joint leading points scorer. Matt Haines
Matthew Haines (born 1 December 1989) is an English professional golfer. Haines turned professional in May 2010 after a successful amateur career, during which he became the youngest ever winner of the Lytham Trophy and represented Great Britain and Ireland in the 2009 Walker Cup as well as England in the European Amateur Team Championship. Haines began playing on the 2010 Challenge Tour and won the season's final event, the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final. He finished second on the Challenge Tour Rankings to earn his European Tour card for 2011. Haines only made the cut in 8 of his 35 starts and dropped down to the Challenge Tour for 2012. Charlie Ford (golfer)
Charles Philip Ford (born 1 May 1985) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Ford attended the University of Tennessee in the United States before turning professional in 2009. He qualified for the second tier Challenge Tour for the 2010 season by reaching the final stage of qualifying school at the end of 2009. He quickly made an impact by winning in his second appearance on the tour, at the Turkish Airlines Challenge, edging out Oscar Florén in a playoff. Ford played on the Challenge Tour from 2010 to 2017. 2017 was his most successful since 2010 and he finished 28th in the Order of Merit. He finished tied for second place at the 2017 European Tour qualifying school to earn his place on the 2018 European Tour. Jacob Roth (golfer)
