2008 Challenge Bell
The 2008 Challenge Bell was a tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts. It was the 16th edition of the Challenge Bell, and was part of the Tier III tournaments of the 2008 WTA Tour. It was held at the PEPS de l'Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada, from October 27 through November 2, 2008. WTA Tier III Tournaments
The WTA Tier III tournaments were Women's Tennis Association tennis third-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years due to tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. From 2009, most Tier III and Tier IV tournaments from previous seasons became WTA International Tournaments owing to a category change. The main reason for the changes was to ease the pressure on players in terms of the number of tournaments that they were required to play. Bethanie Mattek-Sands
Bethanie Mattek-Sands ( Bethanie Lynn Mattek; born March 23, 1985) is an American professional tennis player. She has won nine Grand Slam titles (five in women's doubles and four in mixed doubles), and an Olympic gold medal, and is a former world No. 1 in doubles. In women's doubles, Mattek-Sands has won 27 career titles, including five Grand Slam titles at the 2015 Australian Open, 2015 French Open, 2016 US Open, 2017 Australian Open and 2017 French Open, all partnering Lucie Šafářová. The pair also were the runners-up of the 2016 WTA Finals. Mattek-Sands became the world No. 1 in doubles on January 9, 2017, and held the top ranking for 32 consecutive weeks. Jill Craybas
Jill N. Craybas (born July 4, 1974) is an American former professional tennis player. From the 2000 US Open to the 2011 US Open, Craybas competed in 45 consecutive Grand Slam main draws; her best result coming in the 2005 Wimbledon Championships where she reached the fourth round, which included wins over Marion Bartoli and Serena Williams. By the time she retired in 2013, she was one of the oldest players on the WTA Tour at 39 years of age, as well as the longest serving, having turned pro in 1996. Early years Craybas was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Angela Haynes (born September 27, 1984) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Her top WTA singles ranking is world No. 95 which she attained in August 2005. Maria Mokh (born 4 November 1990) is a Russian former professional tennis player. She has career-high WTA rankings of 359 in singles, achieved on 10 August 2009, and 435 in doubles, attained on 14 July 2008. Rebecca Catherine Marino (born December 16, 1990) is a Canadian professional tennis player. On 11 July 2011, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking of 38. Marino was awarded ''Female Player of the Year'' by Tennis Canada two times, in 2010 and 2011. She decided in late February 2013 to take an indefinite break from tennis. Sharon Fichman ( ; born December 3, 1990) is a Canadian-Israeli inactive tennis player. In 2004, at the age of 13, she was Canada's Under-18 Indoor & Outdoor National girls' champion, and also won the doubles title. In 2005, Fichman won the gold medal in women's singles at the 2005 Maccabiah Games in Israel, at the age of 14. In 2006, Fichman won the Australian Open and French Open junior doubles championships. She was ranked No. 5 on the ITF Junior Circuit in December 2006. Since turning professional, her career-highs have been No. 77 in singles (May 19, 2014) and No. 21 in doubles (January 17, 2022). Sabine Katharina Lisicki (; born 22 September 1989) is a German professional tennis player. Lisicki turned professional in 2006, and her breakthrough came in 2009 when she reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships, and also won her first title on the WTA Tour, at the Family Circle Cup. In March 2010, she suffered an ankle injury at the Indian Wells Open that kept her out of competition for five months and saw her fall out of the top 200.
