2008 Akron Zips Football Team
The 2008 Akron Zips football team represented the University of Akron in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Akron competed as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and played in the East Division. Before the season 2007 starter Reggie Corner was selected 114th overall in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He is the 15th player from Akron to be selected in the draft, and he is the fifth-highest historically. Four other players signed with professional teams in the National Football League. Joe Moorhead
Joe Moorhead (born November 2, 1973) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach at the University of Akron. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Oregon from 2020 to 2021, and the head coach at Mississippi State University from 2018 to 2019. Prior to entering coaching, Moorhead played as a quarterback at Fordham University from 1992 to 1995 and professionally for the Munich Cowboys of the German Football League in 1996-1997. Coaching career Early years After a short professional playing career, the Pittsburgh-born Moorhead began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Pittsburgh. Almondo Sewell (born January 16, 1987) is a professional gridiron football defensive tackle for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University of Akron and attended Hargrave Military Academy before transferring to Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey. He has also been a member of the Edmonton Eskimos and Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League (AFL). 2008 Ball State Cardinals Football Team
The 2008 Ball State Cardinals football team represented Ball State University in the Mid-American Conference during the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Brady Hoke, in his sixth season at Ball State, was the head coach until December 15, when he resigned to become the head coach at San Diego State. He was succeeded by offensive coordinator Stan Parrish, who coached the team during the GMAC Bowl and beyond. The Cardinals' home games were played at Scheumann Stadium in Muncie, Indiana. With a 12–0 record during the regular season, the Cardinals completed their first perfect regular season since 1949 and their first undefeated season in Mid-American Conference play since 1978. The 2008 Syracuse Orange football team represented Syracuse University during the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
