Defensor Sporting
Defensor Sporting Club is a sports club based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Founded in 1913, Defensor has several sports sections, with football and basketball being the most important and the ones in which the club has achieved significant achievements in Uruguay and internationally. It is the third most highest winning club in Uruguay, with 25 official titles, only surpassed by Peñarol and Club Nacional de Football. The club's best performance at the international stage was in 2014, when they reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores, eventually losing to Club Nacional 2-1 on aggregate. Cienciano
Club Sportivo Cienciano is a professional football club based in Cusco, Peru that currently plays in the Peruvian Primera División. The club was founded in 1901 by a group of students of the ''Colegio Nacional Ciencias del Cusco'' (National Science School of Cusco). They decided to give the club its name based on the word ''Ciencias'', which means "Science". It gained worldwide recognition after defeating River Plate in the finals of the 2003 Copa Sudamericana and Boca Juniors in the 2004 Recopa Sudamericana. To this day, Cienciano is the only Peruvian club to win an international competition. Club Plaza Colonia de Deportes, or simply Plaza Colonia, is a Uruguayan professional football club from Colonia del Sacramento, that competes in the Uruguayan Primera Division. Founded in 1917, the club plays its home games at the 3,000 seater Estadio Juan Gaspar Prandi. History The club was founded on April 22, 1917 by Alberto Suppici. They played in the Regional league of Colonia until 1999. They gained their affiliation with AUF in 2000. In 2001 they won promotion to the Primera División Uruguaya and in their debut season they finished in 7th place. In 2003 the club finally fell to the Second Division after a poor campaign. La Luz Fútbol Club (often called La Luz) is a professional Uruguayan football club from Aires Puros, Montevideo, who currently play in the Uruguayan Segunda División. History A group of friends by the names, Luis Rivero, Luis Enrico, and Jose Ruecco, were at a bar in the Aires Puros barrio of Montevideo, when they had an idea of founding a new football club. However, they struggled to find a name for the new club. The bar they were in was one of the few buildings in the area that had electricity by that time, and this is where the name "La Luz" came from. Huracán Buceo
Huracán Buceo is a multisports club, best known for its football side, located in Montevideo in Uruguay. In 2009 the team went into a financial crisis and couldn't play anymore in the professional competitions and played further in the amateur leagues. Handball is also a main sport for the club contributing many players to the national team. Huracán is known as "Tricoplayeros" (a word that joins two senses: three-coloured uniform and the fact that the club was originally based next to the coast of Montevideo).
