During the 2007–08 English football season, Southampton F.C. competed in the Football League Championship. Season summary In the 2007–08 season, the Saints initially had an unremarkable campaign, with the club in mid-table for the first half of the campaign. Once again though, Southampton experienced a major loss of form in the spring, not helped by managerial instability caused by the resignation of George Burley followed by caretaker spells by John Gorman and then Nigel Pearson, and were left in serious danger of relegation to League One on the last day of the season. However, a win combined with some other favourable results ensured their survival for another season in the Championship. Southampton () is a port city in the ceremonial county of Hampshire in southern England. It is located approximately south-west of London and west of Portsmouth. The city forms part of the South Hampshire built-up area, which also covers Portsmouth and the towns of Havant, Waterlooville, Eastleigh, Fareham and Gosport. Marek Saganowski
Marek Mirosław Saganowski (; born 31 October 1978) is a Polish professional football manager and former player who played as a striker, currently in charge of II liga club Pogoń Siedlce. In a much-travelled career, he represented clubs in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, France, England, Denmark and Greece. Saganowski made his full international debut for Poland in 1996, earned 35 caps and scored 5 goals for his national side. He represented the nation at UEFA Euro 2008. Iñigo Idiakez
Iñigo Idiakez Barkaiztegi (born 8 November 1973) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a midfielder or forward, and is a manager. Beginning his career at Real Sociedad, he appeared in 254 official matches during his tenure while competing in ten La Liga seasons (36 goals scored). In his homeland, he also represented Segunda División clubs Oviedo and Rayo Vallecano. He moved to England in 2004 at the age of 30, where he represented Championship teams Derby County, Southampton and Queens Park Rangers, retiring in 2008; he played for Spain at under-21 and under-23 levels. Nathan Antony Jonah Dyer (born 29 November 1987) is an English former professional footballer who played as a winger, spending most of his career at Swansea City, where he made over 300 appearances. He started playing as a teenager at Southampton, making the first team. Bradley Edward Wright-Phillips (born 12 March 1985) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He began his career with Manchester City in the Premier League, before spending the remainder of his time in England in second and third tiers with Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton Athletic, and Brentford. Jhon Eduis Viáfara Mina (born 27 October 1978) is a Colombian former footballer who played as a midfielder. He was part of the Once Caldas team that won the Copa Libertadores in 2004, and later played in Europe for rivals Portsmouth and Southampton in England, and Real Sociedad in Spain. Grzegorz Rasiak (; born 12 January 1979) is a Polish former professional footballer. After starting his career in his native Poland, Rasiak moved to England with Derby County in 2004. Andrew Ronald Edward Surman (born 20 August 1986) is a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He made over 100 appearances for both Southampton and AFC Bournemouth.
