2007–08 Portland Trail Blazers Season
The 2007–08 Portland Trail Blazers season was their 38th season in the NBA. The season saw the team draft Greg Oden with the first overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, but he would miss his entire rookie campaign due to a knee injury that required microfracture surgery. The team would miss the season's playoffs. Offseason The Trail Blazers were busy on draft day, making three trades. The first trade was with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Blazers traded second-round pick Derrick Byars and cash to the Sixers in exchange for Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen. The next trade was with the New York Knicks. The Blazers traded Dan Dickau, Fred Jones, and Zach Randolph to the Knicks for Steve Francis and Channing Frye. The last trade was also with the Knicks. Nate McMillan
Nathaniel McMillan (born August 3, 1964) is an American basketball coach and former player who serves as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He coached the Seattle SuperSonics from 2000 to 2005, the Portland Trail Blazers from 2005 to 2012, and the Indiana Pacers from 2016 to 2020. He spent his entire 12-year NBA playing career with the SuperSonics, then served as an assistant coach for one-and-a-half years and as head coach for almost five years. Fred Jones (basketball)
Frederick Terrell Jones (born March 11, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks and was the winner of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest at the 2004 NBA All-Star Game. Early career Born in Malvern, Arkansas, Fred Jones moved to Portland, Oregon in middle school and became the Oregon High School Player of the Year in both his Junior and Senior years for Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, a suburb of Portland. NBA All-Rookie Second Team
The NBA All-Rookie Team is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) honor given since the 1962–63 NBA season to the top rookies during the regular season. Voting is conducted by the NBA head coaches who are not allowed to vote for players on their own team. The All-Rookie Team is generally composed of two five-man lineups: a first team and a second team. The players each receive two points for each first team vote and one point for each second team vote. James Andrew Jones (born October 4, 1980) is an American professional basketball executive and former player. He is the general manager for the Phoenix Suns. He played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jones was a four-year letterman at American High School in Hialeah, Florida. He averaged 25 points per game as a senior, earning Class 6A Player of the Year and First-team All-State honors. The Phoenix Suns are an American professional basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. Ömer Faruk Aşık (; born July 4, 1986) is a Turkish former professional basketball player who last played for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Aşık, standing at 7'2", was sought after by many of the top Euroleague basketball teams at the age of 19. Aşık got his first chance playing professionally with the Turkish Basketball League team Fenerbahçe in 2005–06. After one season with Alpella, Aşık moved back to Fenerbahçe and eventually ended his Turkish club career with them in 2009–10. Demetris Nichols (born September 4, 1984) is a retired American professional basketball player. He can play at both the small forward and power forward positions. Nichols played college basketball with the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team, and has been a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and New York Knicks of the NBA.
