2007–08 Liga II
The 2007–08 Liga II was the 68th season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 25 August 2007 and lasted until 24 May 2008. The format has been maintained to two series, each of them consisting of 18 teams. At the end of the season, the top two teams of the series promoted to Liga I and the bottom fourth places from both series relegated to Liga III. Liga II
The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. The teams placed from 7th to 12th will play a relegation play-off, where the last two teams are relegated to Liga III. Liga I
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. Before the 2006–07 season, the competition was known as ''Divizia A'', but the name had to be changed following the finding that someone else had registered that trademark. FC Cetatea Suceava
Cetatea Suceava was a professional football club from Romania, based in Suceava and founded in 2004 and dissolved in 2010. History The club was founded in the summer of 2004, to continue the city's football tradition after Foresta was moved back to Fălticeni and after CSM Suceava (Bucovina Suceava) was dissolved a few years back. The club's first season in history was synonymous to its first great performance, when it finished first in Divizia C, and was promoted to Divizia B. At the end of the 2005–06 season of Divizia B, Cetatea finished fifth, only to relegate the next season, when it finished 15th, just two points behind FCM Câmpina, the last team to save itself. The following season, 2007–08 of the Liga III, Cetatea finished first with 76 points out of 34 games and was promoted back. 2007–08 Liga III
The 2007–08 Liga III season was the 52nd season of Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. It was the second in this format (six series of 18 teams each). The winners of each division got promoted to the 2008-09 Liga II season. There were also two playoff tournaments held at neutral venues involving the second placed teams, one with those from series 1, 2 and 3, the other with those from series 4, 5, and 6. The winners of the playoffs also got promoted to the 2008-09 Liga II season. The bottom three from each division were relegated at the end of the season to the county football leagues (Liga IV). From the 15th placed teams, another three were relegated. To determine these teams, separate standings were computed, using only the games played against clubs ranked 1st through 14th. CSM Jiul Petroșani
Clubul Sportiv Municipal Jiul Petroșani, commonly known as Jiul Petroșani, simply as Jiul, is a professional football (soccer), football football team, club based in Petroșani, Hunedoara County, founded in 1919 under the name of ''CAM Petroșani''. Jiul Petroșani is one of the oldest clubs in Romania that is still active. Fotbal Club Progresul București, commonly known as Progresul București or simply as Progresul, was a Romanian Association football, football club based in Bucharest. The team was founded in 1944 as ''B.N.R. București'', being the team of the National Bank of Romania (B.N.R.). 2006–07 Liga I
The 2006–07 Liga I was the eighty-ninth season of Liga I, the top-level football league of Romania. Season began on 28 July 2006 and ended on 23 May 2007. Teams Eighteen teams played in the 2006–07 season. Four teams were from Moldova, four clubs from Transylvania, one from Dobruja and nine from Wallachia four of them coming from the country's capital city Bucharest. Pandurii Târgu Jiu had been relegated at the end of the previous season but they re-entered Liga I at the expense of Sportul Studenţesc which has been relegated to Liga II due to financial problems. They relegated together with FC Bacău, who finished 16th last season. The other four new teams which gained access to Liga I were Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ and Universitatea Craiova (both winning two of the three series of Liga II), plus Unirea Urziceni (winning the playoff for Liga I) and UTA Arad which bought the place from Liberty Salonta (winner of the third series of Liga II). CS Mureșul Deva
Club Sportiv Municipal Deva, commonly known as CSM Deva, is a Romanian professional football (soccer), football football team, club based in Deva, Romania, Deva, Hunedoara County. CF Liberty Oradea
Liberty Oradea was a Romanian football club from Pomezeu, Bihor County, founded in 2003 and dissolved in 2017. The club last played in the Liga V in the 2016–17 season. History At the end of the 2005–06 season it promoted for the very first time in its history to the Liga I, after only 3 years of existence. But it never had a chance to play there, because it sold its place to UTA Arad. In its last years the club could be seen playing constantly in the Liga IV, as Liberty Oradea, but the club was relocated from Salonta to Pomezeu. In the summer of 2017 the club was dissolved and the old club of Pomezeu, ''Vida'' was refounded. FC Drobeta-Turnu Severin was a Romanian professional football club from Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Mehedinți County, Romania, founded in 1958 and dissolved in 2011. History ''FC Drobeta-Turnu Severin'' was never able to reach the Liga I, playing all of its history in the Liga II and the Liga III. In ''1958'', Drobeta Turnu Severin was founded, after it took the place of CFR Turnu Severin in the Divizia C. In 1959 the club changes its name to Metalul Turnu Severin. Clubul Sportiv Concordia Chiajna, commonly known as Concordia Chiajna, is a Romanian professional football club based in Chiajna, Ilfov County, which competes in the Liga II.
