South Korea

Wonder Girls
Wonder Girls () was a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group debuted in February 2007 with the single "Irony" and 5 members: Yeeun, Sunye, Sunmi, Hyuna and Sohee. After Hyuna's departure in July, Yubin was added into the group prior to the release of their debut studio album, ''The Wonder Years'' (2007). The album spawned the hit single " Tell Me," which topped various South Korea's on and offline music charts. Wonder Girls further established themselves as one of the top girl groups in the country with the hit singles "So Hot" and "Nobody," released in 2008. After being released as a single in the U.S. in 2009, "Nobody" charted at No. 76 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, making Wonder Girls the first South Korean act to enter the chart. Broken Valentine
Broken Valentine is a Korean alternative rock band notable for their 2011 appearance on the Korean television program ''Top Band''. History Broken Valentine was formed in 2002 under the name "6. August", but renamed themselves "B. August" in 2004 before finally settling on "Broken Valentine" in 2007. Band membership fluctuated throughout the years as members have gone off for mandatory military service, however by 2007, the current five member lineup was solidified. In December 2008, the reunited band participated in the "Asian Beat" band competition (Korean round) sponsored by YAMAHA, and became the finalist to represent Korea in the following year's Asian Beat Grand Finale held in Hong Kong. In February 2009, Broken Valentine won the Grand Prize and the Best Composer Award (Byun G) with the song "Answer me", which became their most popular track. Lady (group)
Lady (Hangul: 레이디) was a Korean pop group, noted as the first transgender group from that country. The band consisted of Sinae, Sahara, Binu and Yuna. According to the official story, they were the best out of hundreds who tried out to be part of this band. Although only three were supposed to be in the group, a fourth was added at the last minute. Their formation was inspired by the emergence of Harisu, a Korean singer and actress, who is also transgender. Sinae has previously appeared in commercials with a female dance group as well as a music video by Cho PD, and Sahara is a 2003 beauty pageant winner in Thailand and a former jeans model. Lady released their first, self-titled album in 2005, consisting of eight tracks, many of them being remixes of their first two singles, "Attention" and "Ladies Night". Girl Friends is a K-pop group made up of real-life friends, Yuri and Chae Rina. They released two albums with mixed success; their debut single was "Maybe I Love You." Black Beat
Black Beat (블랙 비트) was a South Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment. The five-member group released an album ''Volume 1 - Black Beat #2002'' in 2002. They have not promoted as a group since SM Town 2006. Several members are active as choreographers and vocal trainers for other SM Entertainment artists. In 2007, lead vocalist Jang Jin-young teamed up with Kim Sung-pil to form the R&B duo, ByJinSung. Black Beat was originally planned to be formed as a seven-member group before they debuted in 2000. They debuted as a five-member group during Lee Ji-hun's Dream Concert 2000 as back-up vocalists and dancers. Before 2002, Black Beat members performed as rappers and dancers for other artists. Zia (singer)
Park Ji Hye (born July 21, 1986), better known by her stage name Zia, is a South Korean singer. History Pre-debut Zia's first foray into the music industry was when she participated in the 2003 'BoA-jjang Contest' where she placed first overall. In 2005, she was featured on KCM's song '물론' for his second album. Later on that year, she released a song for the soundtrack of the Korean movie, ''Shadowless Sword''. 2007–2008: Debut Zia released her debut album ''Voice of Heaven'' through the agency Taewon Entertainment in July 2007. Her leading single was the ballad 물끄러미, which was greeted with great success. Her follow-up singles included 내마음별과같이 (Feat. KCM) and 수호천사. Son Dam-bi (; born September 25, 1983) is a South Korean singer, actress and entertainer. She began her career as a solo singer in 2007. She also made her acting debut in the 2009 Korean drama ''Dream.'' Career Son first came to fame when she appeared in a commercial for an MP3 player alongside Poppin' Hyun Joon. Prior to her debut, MSN Japan made a video documentary capturing her pre-debut training and rehearsals, which attracted 480,000 visitors in five days. Son trained with a well-known American choreographer in preparation for this album, and people began calling her the female version of Rain. Min Kyung-hoon (; born October 6, 1984) is a South Korean singer and television personality. He is the lead vocalist of the rock band Buzz and one-half of the duo Universe Cowards with Kim Hee-chul. Min Hyo-rin (; born Jung Eun-ran on 5 February 1986) is a South Korean actress, model and singer. Career Born in Daegu as Jung Eun-ran, she adopted the stage name Min Hyo-rin when she began modeling for the clothing brand Flapper in 2006. Hwangbo Hye-jeong ( ko, 황보혜정; born on 16 August 1980), better known as Hwangbo, is a South Korean singer and rapper. She debuted in 1999 as a rapper in the group Bros, before joining the K-pop girl group Chakra in 2000. After Chakra disbanded in 2006, Hwangbo released the solo album ''Lady In Black'' in 2007.
