2007 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships
The 2007 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships took place between 9 and 11 March 2007 in Milan, Italy. The World Championships were organised by the ISU which also run world cups and championships in speed skating and figure skating Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. Results Men * First place is awarded 34 points, second is awarded 21 points, third is awarded 13 points, fourth is awarded 8 points, fifth is awarded 5 points, sixth is awarded 3 points, seventh is awarded 2 points, and eighth is awarded 1 point in the finals of each individual race to determine the overall world champion. Travis Jayner (born May 9, 1982 in Riverview, New Brunswick) is a Canadian-born American short track speed skater who is a member of the US Olympic Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia. He earned a bronze medal in the 5000-meter relay with teammates Apolo Ohno, J.R. Celski, Jordan Malone and Simon Cho. He is currently the Short Track Speedskating Elite Athlete Representative for the US Speedskating Board of Directors. Jeon Ji-Soo (Hangul: 전지수, Hanja: 全志秀) (born December 13, 1985) is a South Korean short track speed skater. Jeon first gained attention at the 2005 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Belgrade, where she won overall runner-up and a gold medal in the 1000 metres. In 2007, Jeon was selected for the South Korea national team and competed in the World Championships and World Team Championships as a member of the 3000 metre relay squad, where she won gold medals in both events. In 2011, Jeon was again called up to the South Korea national team, ranked first overall in the 500 metres of the 2010-11 national season. Zhou Yang (; ; born 9 June 1991) is a female Chinese short track speed skater. She won the gold medal in the 1500 m event at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She also won the Gold Medal in 1500m event at 2014 Sochi Olympics. Zhou added another gold medal on the Chinese 3000 m relay team. She set a new world and Olympic record in the 1,000 m semifinal. Arianna Fontana OMRI (born 14 April 1990) is an Italian short track speed skater, who has won eleven Olympic medals among these two gold medals in the 500m short track, one at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the second one at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Her medal haul following the 2022 Games made her the short track skater with the most Olympic medals. Kalyna Roberge (born October 1, 1986) is a Canadian short track speed skater. Born in Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon, Quebec, Roberge has won a gold medal in the 3000m relay at the 2005 World Championships. She also placed third overall at the 2005 World Junior Championships including a gold medal in the 500m. She also won a gold medal at a World Cup event in the Netherlands in the 3000m relay. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Roberge placed fourth in the 500m. Along with Alanna Kraus, Tania Vicent and Anouk Leblanc-Boucher, Roberge won a silver medal in the 3000m relay.
