2007 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Shot Put
The men's shot put event at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics took place on August 25, 2007 at the Nagai Stadium in Osaka, Japan. In 2013 it was revealed that Andrei Mikhnevich, the original bronze medalist, tested positive for a prohibited substance at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, 2005 World Championships. Since this was his second offense, he was given a lifetime ban and all his results from August 2005 on were annulled. Germán Luján Lauro (born 2 April 1984) is an Argentine shot putter and discus thrower. He is the South American record holder in the shot put both indoors and outdoors with marks of 21.04 m and 21.26 m, respectively. His personal best in the discus is 63.55 metres. Vasara won his first medal in the Finnish Championships in 2006 when he won the bronze in the indoors championships and silver in the outdoors.
