110 Metres Hurdles
The 110 metres hurdles, or 110-metre hurdles, is a hurdling track and field event for men. It is included in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympic Games. The female counterpart is the 100 metres hurdles. As part of a racing event, ten hurdles of in height are evenly spaced along a straight course of 110 metres. They are positioned so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner. Fallen hurdles do not carry a fixed time penalty for the runners, but they have a significant pull-over weight which slows down the run. Like the 100 metres sprint, the 110 metres hurdles begins in the starting blocks. For the 110 m hurdles, the first hurdle is placed after a run-up of 13.72 metres (45 ft) from the starting line. Robert Kronberg
Leif Robert Kronberg (born August 15, 1976 in Göteborg, Västra Götaland) is a Swedish male hurdler of Serbian descent. He finished 8th in the 110m hurdles final at the 2000 Olympics. He competed again in the 2004 Olympics, reaching the semi-finals. He has also been a regular competitor in the World Championships in Athletics, being present at every event since 1997. His best position has been a 5th place in the 2003 World Championships held in Edmonton. He finished 7th in the final of the 110m hurdles at the 2002 European Athletics Championships in Munich and 5th in the final of the same event in the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. Gregory Sedoc (born 16 October 1981 in Amsterdam, North Holland) is a Dutch hurdler. Career He reached his first international final at the 2007 European Indoor Championships in 60 metres hurdles, and won the event, equalling his personal best time of 7.63 seconds which was established in the previous rounds and beating fellow-countryman Marcel van der Westen by 0.01 second. Commenting on the win, Sedoc stated that "this is so ridiculous. Unbelievable. I never thought I would be able to become European champion... Maurice Wignall (born 17 April 1976) is a Jamaican hurdling athlete. His first appearance in a major international championship was at the 1997 World Championships, where he competed in the long jump competition. He jumped 8.09, which still stands as his personal best. Wignall's success in hurdling came relatively late. He took his first medal, a bronze medal, at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. At the 2004 World Indoor Championships, Wignall won the bronze medal in 60 m hurdles which is the distance used indoor. Later that year he competed in the Olympic 110 metres Hurdles where he placed fourth in the final, missing the bronze medal by one hundredth of a second. In the semi final he set a new national record with a time of 13.17. At the end of the 2004 season Wignall won the silver medal in the 2nd IAAF World Athletics Final. Dayron Robles (born 19 November 1986) is a Cuban track and field athlete who specialises in the 110 metre hurdles. He won his first major medal (a silver) in the 60 metres hurdles at the 2006 World Indoor Championships. Andrew Steven Turner (born 19 September 1980) is an English bodybuilder and retired track and field athlete who specialised in the 110 metres hurdles and occasionally competed in the 100 and 200 metres sprints as well as long jump. At the 110 m hurdles, he is the 2011 World Championship bronze medallist, the 2010 European Champion and the 2010 Commonwealth Champion. Also in 2010, he broke the automatically timed world record in the 200 metres hurdles. He was coached by Lloyd Cowan.
