2007 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Football Team
The 2007 Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team represented Wake Forest University during the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Jim Grobe in his seventh season at the school and played its home games at BB&T Field. The team began its season with an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) game on Saturday, September 1, 2007 against Boston College. Wake Forest played its first season since winning the 2006 ACC championship, their first in 36 years. Preseason Following the most successful season in team history in 2006, the 2007 team was not widely predicted to win the ACC despite returning many offensive starters from 2006. Riley Skinner
Riley Skinner (born October 21, 1986) is a former American football quarterback. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played college football at Wake Forest University. College career Skinner played high school football and basketball for The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. Skinner stepped in for the injured Wake Forest University quarterback Ben Mauk after Mauk injured his arm in the first game of the 2006 season against Syracuse. Skinner proceeded to lead the Demon Deacons to a 10-2 regular season and the championship of the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. He won second-team All-Conference honors as a redshirt freshman. Cornerback
A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. Aaron Curry (American Football)
Aaron Curry (born April 6, 1986) is an American college football coach and former linebacker who is the inside linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). Curry was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round (fourth overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest. Curry also played for the Oakland Raiders in 2011 and 2012. Steven Justice (born May 26, 1984) is an American former college and professional football player who was a center in the National Football League (NFL) and United Football League (UFL). He played college football for Wake Forest University, and earned consensus All-American honors. A fullback (FB) is a position in the offensive backfield in gridiron football, and is one of the two running back positions along with the halfback. Fullbacks are typically larger than halfbacks and in most offensive schemes the fullback's duties are split among power running, pass catching, and blocking for both the quarterback and the other running back.
