2007 Singapore Super Series
The 2007 Singapore Open Super Series (officially known as the Aviva Open Singapore Super Series 2007 for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, from 1 to 6 May 2007 and had a total purse of $200,000. Tournament The 2007 Singapore Open Super Series was the fifth tournament of the 2007 BWF Super Series and also part of the Singapore Open championships, which had been held since 1929. This was also the first tournament that offered valuable ranking points for the qualification to the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Venue This international tournament was held at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. Singapore Indoor Stadium
The Singapore Indoor Stadium, known exonymously as the Indoor Stadium, is an indoor arena located in Kallang, Singapore. It is within walking distance of the Singapore National Stadium, and collectively form a part of the wider Singapore Sports Hub. It has a maximum total capacity of 15,000 depending on configuration, with an all-seating configuration of 12,000. It regularly hosts events such as music concerts, badminton, basketball, netball, tennis, esports, pro-wrestling, mixed martial arts, kickboxing, and monster truck races. The Singaporean ONE Championship regularly hosts its events here. In 2015, the Singapore Indoor Stadium sold 72,342 tickets for the entire year. BWF Super Series
The BWF Super Series was a series of Grade 2 badminton tournaments, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It was launched on December 14, 2006 and implemented in 2007. Since 2011, the Super Series includes two levels of tournament, Super Series Premier and Super Series. A season of Super Series featured twelve tournaments around the world, including five of them classified as Super Series Premier. Super Series Premier tournament offers higher ranking point and higher minimum total prize money. Top eight players/pairs in each discipline in Super Series standings are invited to the Super Series Finals held at the year end. BWF announced a new tournament structure in March 2017, BWF World Tour together with the new hosts for 2018–2021 cycle to replace this Super Series tournaments. Muhammad Hafiz Hashim
Muhammad Hafiz bin Hashim (born 13 September 1982) is a former Malaysian badminton player whose biggest success is having won the 2003 All England Open Badminton Championships. He is currently the Malaysia national junior under-15 singles coach. Personal life He studied at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Ismail before transferring to Kuala Lumpur. Then, he transferred back to Kelantan and studied in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pintu Geng before he transferred to Sultan Ismail College. He achieved worldwide fame when he won the All England Open Badminton Championships in 2003. He is one of the most successful Malay badminton players aside from the Sidek brothers. Hafiz was among others also coached by Misbun Sidek, the eldest of the Sidek brothers and a former national singles coach. John Moody (badminton)
John David Moody (born 21 February 1983) is a New Zealand badminton player. In 2002 and 2004 he won the Fiji International, in 2005 the Ballarat Eureka International and the Waikato International, and in 2006 the North Harbour International and the Waikato International. He represented New Zealand at the Badminton at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2006 Commonwealth Games and Badminton at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 Summer Olympics. At the Commonwealth Games, Moody reaching in to the third round in the men's singles event, quarterfinalists in the men's doubles event, and also the semi-finalists in the mixed team event. Simon Santoso
Simon Santoso (born 29 July 1985) is an Indonesian former badminton player. He was two-time Southeast Asian Games men's singles champion winning in 2009 and 2011, also featured in Indonesia team that won the men's team title in 2003, 2007, 2009, and 2011. Santoso won the Indonesia Open a Superseries Premier tournament in 2012. He reached a career high as world number 3 in August 2010. Career When he was young, Santoso joined the Tangkas Jakarta badminton club before joining the Indonesian National team. In 2005, he won the Vietnam Satellite and the silver medal at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. Chan Yan Kit
Chan Yan Kit (, born 10 December 1985) is a badminton player from Hong Kong. He competed at the Asian Games from 2006 to 2014. Career He competed at the 2006 IBF World Championships in men's singles and was defeated in first round by Eric Pang. The next year he reached quarterfinals at the 2007 Badminton Asia Championships, losing against Yeoh Kay Bin 13-21, 21-9, 21-14. Ronald Susilo
Ronald Susilo (; born 6 June 1979) is a Singaporean former badminton player. Susilo was ranked sixth, his highest ranking, in 2004. Susilo started his badminton career at age 19 and had represented Singapore since 2002. He had represented Singapore in two Olympics, the 2004 and the 2008 Summer Olympics and was the flag-bearer for Singapore at the 2004 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. He retired in 2010 before coming out of retirement in 2014 to participate in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. Kenneth Jonassen
Kenneth Jonassen (born 3 July 1974) is a badminton player from Denmark, who won Danish national and international titles during the first decade of the 21st century. The big, hard fighting Dane was often ranked among the top few singles players of that era, but was rather overshadowed by his fellow countryman Peter Gade. He played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, losing in the round of 32 to Chen Hong of China. Chen Yu (badminton)
Chen Yu (born 8 May 1980) is a former Chinese badminton player from Nanning, Guangxi. Career Chen had joined the Guangxi team in 1993, and was selected to join the national team in 1998. Chen won the men's singles title at the Chinese National Championships in 2002 and 2003. On the international badminton circuit he won the 2006 Thailand Open by defeating two fellow countrymen (and two fellow "Chens"), Chen Hong in the semifinals, and Chen Jin in a very close final. Outside of that victory he has had trouble breaking through, but has been runner-up in the Denmark (2003, 2006), Singapore (2003, 2007), and German Opens (2007), and at the prestigious All-England Championships in 2007. Lee Chong Wei
Datuk Lee Chong Wei (; born 21 October 1982) is a Malaysian former badminton player. As a singles player, Lee was ranked first worldwide for 349 weeks, including a 199-week streak from 21 August 2008 to 14 June 2012. He is the fifth Malaysian player after Foo Kok Keong, Rashid Sidek, Roslin Hashim and Wong Choong Hann to achieve such a ranking (since official rankings were first kept in the 1980s), and is the only Malaysian shuttler who has held the number one ranking for more than a year. Chen Hong (; born November 28, 1979 in Changting County, Fujian) is a former Chinese badminton player. Career During the first several years of the 21st century Chen rated among the world's leading singles players, achieving a number one world ranking in 2002–2003.
