2007 Players Championship
The 2007 Players Championship was a golf tournament in Florida on the PGA Tour, held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville. It was the 34th Players Championship and was won by Phil Mickelson, two strokes ahead of runner-up Sergio García. With the new PGA Tour season arrangement in 2007, the tournament was played in May for the first time and concluded on Mother's Day. Previous tournaments were typically played in late March, two weeks before the Masters Tournament. Defending champion Stephen Ames missed the 36-hole cut by seven strokes. 2007 PGA Tour
The 2007 PGA Tour season ran from January 4, 2007 to November 4, 2007. The season consisted of 47 official money events. This included four Men's major golf championships, major championships and three World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the European Tour. There were also five unofficial events played in November and December. Tiger Woods swept all the major awards for a sixth time. Twelve players won three million dollars, 34 won two million or more and 99 won one million or more. The cut off to make the top 125 on the money list and retain a tour card was a record $785,180. The total prize money, as stated on the 2007 schedule of tournaments page of the PGA Tour website, was $271.1 million. The actual prize money was slightly higher – $272,304,886.89 (due to more than 70 players making the cut at most tournaments). Robert Allenby
Robert Allenby (born 12 July 1971) is an Australian professional golfer. Early years Allenby was born on 12 July 1971 in Melbourne, Victoria. His father had emigrated to Australia from Leeds, UK as a young man. Professional career He turned professional in 1992 and was successful almost immediately, topping the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit in his first season and again in 1994. He continues to play some events on his home tour and has won 13 times in Australassia, including the Victorian Open as an amateur. He also began to play on the European Tour and it was his principal tour until 1998. He won four tournaments on it, including three in 1996, when he finished third on the Order of Merit. Bart Bryant
Barton Holan Bryant (November 18, 1962 – May 31, 2022) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions. Early life Bryant was born in Gatesville, Texas, the son of a Baptist pastor. He attended New Mexico State University, where he was a two-time All-American as a member of the golf team. Professional career Bryant turned professional in 1986. Bryant did not win on the PGA Tour until his 187th start, the 2004 Valero Texas Open. His entire career was plagued by injuries and he graduated from PGA Tour Q School six times before his win. At 41 he was the oldest first time winner on the tour in nine years. Olin Browne
Olin Douglas Browne (born May 22, 1959) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and now plays on the PGA Tour Champions. Browne was born in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Holderness School in Plymouth, N.H. in 1977. He then went on to Occidental College in 1981. He turned professional in 1984. He lives in Hobe Sound, Florida. He has featured in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Browne won three times on the PGA Tour. On August 8, 2007, Browne was named one of the assistant captains for the 2008 United States Ryder Cup team. At the 1998 Masters Tournament, Browne and Scott Simpson both carded a quadruple bogey on the opening hole of the first round - the worst start in the history of the tournament. David Branshaw
David Sean Branshaw (born September 25, 1969) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He formerly played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour (now known as the Korn Ferry Tour). Branshaw was born in Oswego, New York. He turned professional in 1991, and competed on the Nationwide Tour in 1997, 2002, 2003, and 2005. In 2003, he earned his PGA Tour card by finishing T4 at Q-School. Branshaw struggled in his first year on Tour, and failed to retain his playing card. In 2005, Branshaw finished 7th on the Nationwide Tour money list and regained a spot on the PGA Tour with a win at the 2005 Nationwide Tour Championship. Branshaw did not play again on the PGA Tour after 2007, when he made only 10 cuts in 30 events and lost his tour card. He played on the Nationwide Tour full-time after that. Jason Bohn
Jason Duehn Bohn (born April 24, 1973) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. He has won two PGA Tour events. Amateur career Bohn was born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1992, while a sophomore on the Alabama golf team, Bohn was playing in a charity fund-raiser in Tuscaloosa when he made a hole-in-one worth $1 million. Bohn dropped his amateur status and golf scholarship on the spot and turned professional. He graduated from Alabama in 1995.
