The 2003 Oyo State gubernatorial election occurred on April 19, 2003. PDP's Rashidi Ladoja won election for a first tenure, defeating Incumbent Governor, AD's Lam Adesina and three other candidates. Christopher Alao-Akala
Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala (3 June 1950 – 12 January 2022) was a Nigerian politician and police officer. He was once the Governor of Oyo State and a candidate of the ADP in 2019 Governorship election in Oyo State. Early years Born on 3 June 1950 at Ogbomoso, in the Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alao-Akala had his elementary school at Osupa Baptist Day School, Ogbomoso. Alao-Akala proceeded to the Kamina Barracks Middle School, 5th Battalion of Infantry in Tamale, Ghana. Abiola Ajimobi
Senator Isiaka Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi (16 December 1949 – 25 June 2020) was a Nigerian politician from Oyo State, south-western Nigeria. He was formerly the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria. He left the oil sector in 2002 after 26 years of meritorious service and was elected in 2003 as a Senator of the Republic of Nigeria representing Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). After one term in the senate, he contested in 2007 for the governorship seat of Oyo state under the banner of the All Nigeria People's Party, a bid which he lost. Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (born 25 September 1944) is a Nigerian businessman who became governor of Oyo State in Nigeria on 29 May 2003 as a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was impeached in January 2006, but reinstated in December 2006. His term ended in 2007. Ladoja became a member of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in December 2018. Oyo State
Oyo State is an inland state in southwestern Nigeria. Its capital is Ibadan, the third most populous city in the country and formerly the second most populous city in Africa.
