2007 Karjala Tournament
The 2007 Karjala Tournament took place from November 8-11, 2007. Five games were played in Finland and one was played in Sweden. Russia won the tournament before Sweden and the Czech Republic. The tournament was part of the 2007-08 Euro Hockey Tour. Sweden opened the tournament in Jönköping, losing 1-3 against Russia. 2006 Karjala Tournament
The 2006 Karjala Tournament was an ice hockey tournament that took place from November 9-12, 2006. Five games were played in Finland and one was played in the Czech Republic. Russia won the tournament before the Czech Republic and Sweden, while Finland finished fourth. The tournament was part of the 2006–07 Euro Hockey Tour, 2006-07 Euro Hockey Tour. Oleg Saprykin
Oleg Dmitrievich Saprykin (russian: Олег Дмитриевич Сапрыкин; born February 12, 1981) is a Russian former professional ice hockey player. Saprykin played with HC Dynamo Moscow, SKA Saint Petersburg, HC Sochi and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. He played in the 2009 KHL All-Star Game, held in Red Square and was a member of Ufa's Gagarin Cup championship team in 2011. Saprykin also played parts of seven seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was a first round selection, 11th overall, of the Calgary Flames and also played for the Phoenix Coyotes and Ottawa Senators. Internationally, Saprykin has played with the Russian National Team on two occasions and was a member of the team that won the gold medal at the 2009 World Championship. Jussi Markkanen
Jussi Markkanen (born May 8, 1975) is a Finnish professional ice hockey executive and former goaltender. He is currently serving as general manager of SaiPa. Markkanen played extensively in various European professional leagues as well as the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the fifth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, 133rd overall, by the Edmonton Oilers, as an over-aged entrant. Playing career Markkanen played most of his NHL career in Edmonton, except for a single season stint with the New York Rangers. During the 2004–05 NHL lockout, Markkanen played in the Russian Super League, where he posted a dominant 31–9–9 record. In July 2007, Jokerit agreed to a one-year contract with Markkanen for the next SM-liiga season. Kinnarps Arena
The Husqvarna Garden, formerly Kinnarps Arena, is an indoor arena, primarily an ice hockey venue, in Jönköping, Sweden. History The arena, which is located in the Rosenlund district of Jönköping, was built between September 1999 and September 2000. It was literally built around and on top of the old arena Rosenlundshallen while HV71 was still playing their regular season games. Kinnarps Arena was designed by Flensborns arkitektkontor and Skanska as contractor, with Kinnarps AB financing the project. Future proprietor and owner of the arena is HV71 Fastighets AB, a subsidiary to HV71. HV71 played its first Swedish Elite League game inside the arena on 26 September 2000, defeating Luleå HF, 6–4. The official inauguration occurred on 21 October the same year. To improve HV71's youth programme a training facility connected to Kinnarps Arena was built and stood ready for use in May 2001. Kenny Jönsson
Kenny Per Anders Jönsson (born October 6, 1974) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player. Playing career Jönsson was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1st round as the 12th overall selection in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. After playing with the Toronto club during the 1994–95 lockout shortened season, he was traded midway through the 1995–96 season to the New York Islanders in a player exchange which brought highly popular former captain Wendel Clark back to Toronto. Jönsson then spent the remainder of his NHL career with the Islanders. After playing with the Swedish second division team Rögle BK, where he started his career, during the 2004–05 NHL lockout, he announced in the summer of 2005 that he was staying with the club for the 2005–06 season.
