2007 Israel Baseball League Season ...
The 2007 Israel Baseball League season was the first season in the history of the Israel Baseball League. In the first game in the IBL's history, the Modi'in Miracle squared off against the Petach Tikva Pioneers at Yarkon Field in Petach Tikva. The Miracle won that game, beating Petach Tikva 9 to 1. The champions of the 2007 IBL season were the Bet Shemesh Blue Sox. The Blue Sox defeated the Modi'in Miracle 3–0 on August 19, 2007, to win the championship. The Israel Baseball League (IBL; Hebrew: ליגת הבייסבול הישראלית, ''Ligat ha-Beisbol ha-Israelit'') was a six-team professional baseball league in Israel. The first game was played on June 24, 2007. League structure The six league teams were the Tel Aviv Lightning, Netanya Tigers, Bet Shemesh Blue Sox, Petach Tikva Pioneers, Modi'in Miracle, and Ra'anana Express. The teams played games at three ballparks. The Yarkon Sports Complex, seating 15,000, in the Baptist Village in Petach Tikva, just outside Tel Aviv, was home to the Ra'anana Express and the Petach Tikva Pioneers. Gezer Field, about halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, was home to the Bet Shemesh Blue Sox and the Modi'in Miracle. Sportek Baseball Field, in Tel Aviv, was shared by the Tel Aviv Lightning and the Netanya Tigers. Maximo Nelson (born April 21, 1982 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent. Nelson played for Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball from 2008 to 2012. Career Nelson played baseball in the Dominican from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, he signed with the New York Yankees, and posted a 6-3 win–loss record of the GCL Yankees in 2004. In baseball or softball, a strikeout (or strike-out) occurs when a batter accumulates three strikes during a time at bat. It usually means that the batter is out. In baseball statistics, earned run average (ERA) is the average of earned runs allowed by a pitcher per nine innings pitched (i.e. the traditional length of a game). Andrew John Morales (born January 16, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican League. Career Morales graduated from South Hills High School and played college baseball at Rio Hondo College from 2011 to 2012 before transferring to UC Irvine and playing there from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, he was named an All-American and won the Senior CLASS Award for baseball. During his college career he went 42–3 with a 2.00 earned run average (ERA) and 361 strikeouts.
