2007 IAAF Golden League
The 2007 Golden League was the tenth edition of the IAAF's annual series of six athletics meets, held across Europe, with athletes having the chance to win the Golden League Jackpot of $1 million. IAAF Golden League
The IAAF Golden League was an annual series of outdoor track and field meetings organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Athletes who won specific events at all of the series meetings were awarded a jackpot prize, sometimes given in gold bars, which inspired the series name. The competition began with seven meetings and it lasted for twelve years as the IAAF's top tier of one-day meetings. Within the IAAF's global circuit, athletes received additional points for their performances at the Golden League for the IAAF Grand Prix (1998–2002), IAAF World Outdoor Meetings (2003–2005), then IAAF World Athletics Tour (2006–2009). The Golden League was replaced in 2010 by the Diamond League, which marked an expansion to fourteen seasonal meetings covering all track and field events except the hammer throw. Bislett Stadion
Bislett Stadium ( no, Bislett stadion) is a sports stadium in Oslo, Norway. Bislett is Norway's most well known sports arena internationally, with 15 speed skating world records and more than 50 track and field world records having been set here. The original stadium was demolished in 2004 and construction of a new stadium was completed by the summer of 2005. The New Bislett Stadium was designed by C.F. Møller Architects. History Bislett Stadium lies on the site of a 19th-century brick works, which was bought by the Municipality of Kristiania (Oslo) in 1898, and turned into a sports field in 1908. The merchant, speed skater, gymnast and sports organizer Martinus Lørdahl was instrumental in facilitating the construction of the first bleachers, begun in 1917 and completed in 1922 along with the new club house. Daniel Kipchirchir Komen
Daniel Kipchirchir Komen (born November 27, 1984, in Chemorgong, Koibatek District) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres. He graduated from Timboroa High School in 2003. He started running seriously while at high school. In 2003 he finished second at the 2003 African Junior Championships 5000 metres race, behind Boniface Kiprop Toroitich of Uganda. He competed at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki but missed the 1500 metres final. On June 10, 2007, he ran the fastest mile ever run in the United States, breaking a record that Eamonn Coghlan had held since 1983 with a 3:48.28 in Eugene, Oregon. He competed at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics in Osaka missing the 1500 metres final. He is coached by Jimmy Beuttah and Joseph Ngure. Craig Mottram
Craig Mottram (born 18 June 1980) is a former Australian long and middle-distance runner who specialised in the 5000 meter event. Early years Mottram was born on 18 June 1980 in Frankston, Victoria. He attended Geelong Grammar School. Career At 6 feet 2 inches, Mottram is unusually tall for a distance runner. He competed in his first Olympic Games at only 20 years of age, in the 5000 metre event at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney: he did not qualify from his heat, but finished in 8th place with a respectable time of 13 minutes, 31.06 seconds. He fared better in his next Olympic competition: with four additional years of experience and athletic maturity, Mottram qualified for the final of the 5000 metre event and finished 8th with a time of 13:25.70 in Athens. Andrew Baddeley
Andrew James Baddeley (born 20 June 1982) on The Wirral, Merseyside is an English middle-distance runner. Career He finished sixth in the 1500 metres final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. He also competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and has a silver medal from the 2005 Summer Universiade. He finished second in the 1500 metres final at the European Cup in Athletics 2007 in Munich, with a time of 3:48.08 minutes. At the Bislett Games on 15 June 2007, Baddeley ran 3.51.95 for the mile which took almost 5 seconds off his personal best and moved him to 12th spot on the UK all time ranking list. Augustine Choge
Augustine Kiprono Choge (born 21 January 1987) is a Kenyan middle distance and long distance runner. He won world youth and junior titles on the track in 2003 and 2004, eventually going on to set a world junior record for the 3000 metres in 2005. In his final year as a junior he won the World Cross Country Junior title. He claimed the 5000 metres gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, but began to focus more on the 1500 metres from then on. He reached the 1500 m finals at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. Choge broke the long-standing 4×1500 metres relay world record with a Kenyan team of runners in September 2009. Adil Kaouch
Adil Kaouch ( ar, عادل الكوش) (born 1 January 1979) is a Moroccan middle distance runner. In 1998 he won the World Junior Championships over 1500 metres. The next year won a 5000 metres gold medal at the 1999 Pan Arab Games. At the 1999 and 2001 World Championships, he took the role of setting a fast early pace to pull his teammate Hicham El Guerrouj away to victory. At the 2000 Sydney Olympic he failed to advance from his heat in the 1500m, and Hicham El Guerrouj was eventually upset in a sprint finish by Kenyan Noah Ngeny. At this race, another Moroccan runner Youssef Baba set the pace for El Guerrouj. Marlon Devonish
Marlon Ronald Devonish, (born 1 June 1976) is an English former sprinter who competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres. A prodigious relay runner with particular strength as a 'bend' runner, Devonish ran the third leg for the Great Britain quartet which won the 4 x 100 metres at the 2004 Olympic Games, and won four World Championship medals in the same event in 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2009. Darrel Brown
Darrel Rondel Brown (born October 11, 1984) is a sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago who specializes in the 100 metres and the 200 metres. In the beginning of his career, he was awarded the Austin Sealy Trophy for the most outstanding athlete at the CARIFTA Games twice, both in 1999 and 2000, after becoming the first athlete to win back-to-back titles in both the 100 and 200 metres (Youth). Mark Anthony Lewis-Francis, MBE (born 4 September 1982) is a retired British track and field athlete, specifically a sprinter, who specialised in the 100 metres and was an accomplished regular of GB 4 x 100m relay.
