2006–07 Football League Trophy
The 2006–07 Football League Trophy, known as the 2006–07 Johnstone's Paint Trophy for sponsorship reasons, was the 23rd staging of the Football League Trophy, a knockout competition for English football clubs in Leagues One and Two. The winners were Doncaster Rovers from League One and the runners-up were Bristol Rovers from League Two. The competition began on 17 October 2006 and ended with the final on 1 April 2007. The final was the last to take place at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. In the first round, there are four sections: Northern Section–West, Northern Section–East, Southern Section–West and Southern Section–East. In the second round this narrows to simply a Northern and a Southern section, whereupon each section gradually eliminates teams in knock-out fashion until each has a winning finalist. Sammy Igoe
Samuel Gary Igoe (born 30 September 1975) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder during his career. Career He started his career with Portsmouth, and after spells with Reading, Luton Town and Swindon Town. Igoe signed for Millwall in August 2005 but he struggled to maintain a first team place after Steve Claridge was sacked as manager. Igoe impressed Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope during a loan spell at the club at the end of the 2005–06 season, and in the summer of 2006 he signed for the club on a permanent basis. Mike Green (goalkeeper)
Michael John Green (born 23 July 1989 in Bristol) is an English footballer. Green has spent the majority of his career with Bristol Rovers including loan spells at various non-league sides including Gloucester City and Cirencester Town. He plays as a goalkeeper and signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2006, having graduated from their Centre of Excellence at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, earning himself a place in the Bristol Rovers squad for the 2006–07 season. Rickie Lambert
Rickie Lee Lambert (born 16 February 1982) is an English former professional footballer. During his career, he played as a striker, before retiring in 2017. He won a number of personal awards, including two league Golden Boots. Lambert was known for his large stature and physical performances, drawing comparisons with former Southampton player Matt Le Tissier for his ability in front of goal and penalty record. Lewis Oliver Haldane (born 13 March 1985) is a Welsh former under-21 international footballer who scored 75 goals in 414 league and cup games in a 14-year career. A winger, he was a youth player at Southampton and Trowbridge Town, before he turned professional at Bristol Rovers in 2002. Loaned out to non-league Weston-super-Mare, he broke through into the Rovers first team in 2003–04. Craig Disley
Craig Edward Disley (born 24 August 1981) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who is assistant manager at Cleethorpes Town. Primarily a box-to-box central midfielder, he began his professional career at Mansfield Town in 1999 where he started as a youngster, and established himself in the "Stags" first team in the 2001–02 season, helping them gain promotion into the Second Division. Stuart Pearson Campbell (born 9 December 1977) is a association football, football coach and former professional player. As a player, he was as a midfielder between 1996 and 2013. Christopher Paul Carruthers (born 19 August 1983) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left-back. He played in the Football League for Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers. Carruthers started his career with the Northampton Town youth system and made his first-team debut in 2001. He had loans with Hornchurch, Kettering Town, and Bristol Rovers, joining the latter permanently in 2005 after making over 80 appearances for Northampton. Craig Hinton (born 26 November 1977 in Wolverhampton, West Midlands) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Aaron Anthony Lescott (born 2 December 1978 in Birmingham, West Midlands) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Lescott played at a number of Football League clubs, most notably a six-year spell at Bristol Rovers and a three-year spell at Stockport County. Steven John Phillips (born 6 May 1978 in Bath, Somerset) is an English football goalkeeper, who was most recently goalkeeping coach at Yeovil Town. Career The West Country goalkeeper began his career playing for Coleford Athletic under 13s, he then moved into Non-League football with Paulton Rovers and then earned a big move to Bristol City where he went on to play 250 league appearances for the Ashton Gate outfit.
