2007 FIBA Americas Championship
The 2007 FIBA Americas Championships later known as the FIBA AmeriCup (or The Tournament of the Americas), was a basketball tournament held at Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, from August 22, to September 2. It was the thirteenth staging of the FIBA AmeriCup. The tournament was originally going to be hosted in Venezuela. However, the Venezuelan federation failed to pay a $1.5 million fee, as of August 31, 2006. As such, their hosting privileges were taken away. Several countries had shown interest in hosting the tournament, including: United States, Chile, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. The United States had not hosted it since 1992, Chile had never hosted it, Argentina had held it last in 2001, and Puerto Rico had last hosted in 2003. Antonio Porta
Antonio Alejandro Porta Pernigotti (born 28 October 1983) is a former Argentine-Italian professional basketball player, who lasted played with the Svendborg Rabbits in the Danish Basketball League. He played at both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Porta is now a basketball coach on the “Svendborg Efterskole” in Svendborg, Denmark. He is the coach of a group of young teenagers. Professional career Porta played with several clubs in the Italian League, and also in the Spanish League and the Russian Super League. Adam Parada (born October 21, 1981) is an American-born Mexican former professional basketball player. He played most notably as an import in the Philippine Basketball Association for the Alaska Aces. He played four years at the University of California, Irvine, but was not drafted by any team in the 2004 NBA Draft. He became a mainstay of the Mexico national team. Nolan Richardson
Nolan Richardson Jr. (born December 27, 1941) is a former American basketball head coach best known for his tenure at the University of Arkansas, where he won the 1994 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament and led the Razorbacks to three Final Fours. Elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, Richardson coached teams to winning a Division I Basketball National Championship, an NIT championship, and a Junior College National Championship, making him the only coach to win all three championships. During his 22 seasons of coaching in NCAA Division I, Richardson made a post-season tournament appearance 20 times. UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia Club de Baloncesto, S.A.D., more commonly referred to as UCAM Murcia, is a professional basketball team based in Murcia, Spain. It plays their home games at Palacio de Deportes. Basket Zaragoza 2002 S.A.D., more commonly referred to as Basket Zaragoza and as Casademont Zaragoza for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Zaragoza, Spain. The team plays in the Liga ACB. Their home arena is the Pabellón Príncipe Felipe.
