2007 ECM Prague Open
The 2007 ECM Prague Open was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was part of the 2007 ATP Challenger Series and of the 2007 WTA Tour as a Tier IV tournament. It took place in Prague, Czech Republic between 7 and 13 May 2007. The tournament included tennis exhibition involving Goran Ivanisevic and Richard Krajicek. Clay Courts
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. Play Clay courts are considered "slow" because the balls bounce relatively high and lose much of their initial speed when contacting the surface, making it more difficult for a player to deliver an unreturnable shot. Sergio Roitman
Sergio Andres Roitman (born 16 May 1979), nicknamed 'Motoneta' (''Shotgun'' in Spanish) is a retired professional tennis player from Argentina. He achieved a career-high rankings of world No. 62 in singles in October 2007, and world No. 45 in doubles in September 2008. He won several Challenger and Futures singles titles in his career. In addition, Roitman won two ATP doubles titles - at Amsterdam in 2000, and Umag in 2001. Early and personal life Roitman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is Jewish. Roitman, along with Dudi Sela, Diego Schwartzman, and Camila Giorgi was one of a number of recent Jewish tennis players ranked in the top 100. Mathieu Montcourt
Mathieu Montcourt (4 March 1985 – 6 July 2009) was a professional French tennis player. At the 2006, 2007, and 2009 French Opens, he lost in the second round, to Lleyton Hewitt, Jarkko Nieminen, and Radek Štěpánek respectively. Career In 2002, Mathieu had played a few Futures tournaments and won only one doubles match in Futures aside with Jean Baptiste Robin. His best singles Futures result was making the second round 3 times out of 6, losing to Jan Weinzierl, Nicolas Mahut and Roman Valent, respectively. He didn't play any other events aside from Futures events. Montcourt only played one doubles match in 2003, losing in the first round of a Futures tournament. Bohdan Ulihrach
Bohdan Ulihrach (born 23 February 1975) is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. Career Ulihrach turned professional in 1993. He won his first top-level singles title in July 1995 at Prague, where he defeated Javier Sánchez in the final. His second followed three months later at Montevideo, where he beat Alberto Berasategui in the final. In 1996, Ulihrach was part of the Czech Republic team which finished runner-up at the World Team Cup. In 1997, en-route to his first hardcourt final at the Indian Wells Masters, Ulihrach beat the then-world No. 1, Pete Sampras. In the final, he was defeated by Michael Chang. Dušan Karol (born 19 May 1983) is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. Biography Born in Jihlava, Karol was a right-handed player, with a double handed backhand. As a junior he had a win over Tomas Berdych at the Czech Indoor Championships and in another tournament defeated Marcos Baghdatis without dropping a game.
