2006 S.League
2006 S.League was the eleventh season of Singapore's professional football league. It was won by Singapore Armed Forces, which was their fifth league title. Changes from 2005 * Paya Lebar Punggol merged with the returning Sengkang Marine to form Sengkang Punggol. * Gombak United also returned to the league after pulling out in 2002. * Sporting Afrique were a foreign team made up of players from four different African countries – Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana. * Sinchi went out of operation at the end of 2005 season. Foreign players Each club is allowed to have a maximum of 4 foreign players, except Young Lions. * Albirex Niigata (S) and Sporting Afrique Sporting Afrique Football Club was a professional football club which played in Singapore's S.League in 2006. Warriors Football Club is a Singaporean professional football club that played in the Singapore Premier League, the top division of football in Singapore. Before changing their name on 20 January 2013, they were previously known as the Singapore Armed Forces Football Club (SAFFC) since their establishment on 16 February 1996. Despite their name back then, not all players from the team came from the Armed Forces. Some were internationals and others were foreign. The club's original choice of mascot was a wolf, but club officials chose a rhinoceros, which represents discipline, spirit, courage and teamwork. Kengne Ludovick Takam (born June 21, 1983) is a Cameroonian professional footballer. Career Ludovick played for Balestier Khalsa during 2005–2007 season before joining Home United in 2008. He helped Balestier Khalsa to be the team with biggest improvement in 2005 which bring them to 7th place out of 11 and also shock the fans with a victory over Tampines Rovers with a scoreline of 2–1 with both goals scored by him. Jeon Kyung-Jun (born 10 September 1973) is a former footballer from South Korea. He played as midfielder and was the head coach of the Super Reds FC in the Singapore S.League. Jeon has represented South Korea both at the youth (U-20) and Olympic (U-23) levels. At club level, he initially enjoyed more international successes (winning the Asian Champions Cup in 1997 and 1998 with Pohang Steelers) than domestic ones. However, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors did manage to win two FA Cups (2003, 2005) despite average form in the league. In 2006, Jeon left Jeonbuk to play for Home United in Singapore. Sutee Suksomkit ( th, สุธี สุขสมกิจ, born June 5, 1978) is a Thai professional football manager and former player who is the head coach of Thai League 3 club Bankhai United.
