2006 Queen's Birthday Honours (Australia)
The 2006 Queen's Birthday Honours for Australia were announced on Monday 12 June 2006 by the Governor-General, Michael Jeffery. The Birthday Honours were appointments by some of the 16 Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries. The Birthday Honours are awarded as part of the Queen's Official Birthday celebrations during the month of June. Ron McCallum
Ronald Clive McCallum AO (born 8 October 1948) is an Australian legal academic. He is an expert in labour law, and has served as a professor and dean of law at the University of Sydney. He is the first totally blind person to be appointed to a full professorship in any subject at any university in Australia or New Zealand, as well as the first to become a Dean of Law in these countries. Keith De Lacy
Keith Ernest De Lacy, AM (7 August 1940 – 26 November 2021) was an Australian politician and businessman. Early life De Lacy was born in Cairns and grew up on a tobacco farm in the Mareeba/Dimbulah district. He received a Diploma of Agriculture from Gatton College and then a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland as a mature age correspondence student. Greg Combet
Gregory Ivan Combet (; born 28 April 1958) is a former Australian politician and trade unionist. He was Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions between 1999 and 2007. He was elected member for the New South Wales Federal seat of Charlton for the Australian Labor Party at the 2007 election and was immediately appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Procurement in the First Rudd Ministry on 3 December 2007. Combet was the Minister for Climate Change, Industry and Innovation in the Second Gillard Ministry before announcing his resignation from the ministry on 26 June 2013 following Julia Gillard's defeat in a leadership ballot. Michael John Strachan Bryce, (21 June 1938 – 15 January 2021) was an Australian architect and graphic and industrial designer. He was the husband of the 25th governor-general of Australia, Dame Quentin Bryce. Early life and career Michael Bryce was born in Brisbane, Queensland, and attended Gordonvale State School in north Queensland, and Brisbane State High School. He gained a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Queensland in 1962. He returned to Australia and started an architecture practice in 1968. Air Marshal Geoffrey David Shepherd (born 24 January 1952) is a retired senior officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), who served as Chief of Air Force from 2005 until 2008. Richard Henry Searby (23 July 1931 – 8 August 2018) was an Australian lawyer, company director and academic. His father was Dr. Henry Searby, a founding member of the Royal Melbourne Hospital at Parkville and his mother, Mary Searby, was a philanthropist involved in community programs for the benefit of underprivileged people. He was born on 23 July 1931. His brother, Michael, held a doctorate in philosophy from Cambridge University and had a career as a director of companies. Archibald Allan Scott, AO (1923–28 October 2008) was a South Australian businessman, most well known for his Mount Gambier-based transport, property and media interests. Career Scott was best known for founding the truck organisation Scott's Transport in Mount Gambier, South Australia, which has since grown to be one of the biggest freight companies in Australia, rivalling Linfox. In 1988 Scott purchased local rival transport company K&S Freighters and then listed it on the Australian Securities Exchange. Alongside trucking, he had many business interests in Mount Gambier, including the town's newspaper, ''The Border Watch'' and television station SES8.
