Saanich Commonwealth Place
Saanich Commonwealth Place is a recreation center located west of the Patricia Bay Highway and north of Royal Oak Drive in Saanich, British Columbia in Canada. It was originally constructed in 1993 for the August 1994 Commonwealth Games, and is currently a prominent facility in the community. In 2002 the original weightroom was completely renovated and it re-opened for operation in 2004. Among the center's other features are a full-size gymnasium (7000 square feet), a 50-meter competition pool, 4.5 meter deep dive tank with 1-, 3-, 5-, 7.5-, and 10-meter boards, and the Bruce Hutchison Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library. César Cielo
César Augusto Cielo Filho (, born 10 January 1987) is a Brazilian competitive swimmer who specializes in sprint events. He is the most successful Brazilian swimmer in history, having obtained three Olympic medals, winning six individual World Championship gold medals and breaking two world records. Cielo is the current world record holder in the 50-metre freestyle (long course). His gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, in the 50-metre freestyle competition, is Brazil's only Olympic gold in swimming to date. Nicolas Nilo César de Oliveira (born 4 August 1987) is a Brazilian former freestyle swimmer who specialized in sprint events. International career 2006–2008 Oliveira swam at the 2006 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, where he finished 6th in the 4 × 200-metre freestyle, 14th in the 100-metre freestyle, 25th in the 200-metre freestyle, and was disqualified in the 4 × 100-metre freestyle. Matthew Rose (born July 10, 1981) is a Canadian former competition swimmer and national record-holder. He swam for Canada at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he swam for the Texas A&M Aggies swimming and diving team. He was named the Big 12 Conference's Swimmer of the Year at the 2003 conference meet. Colin Russell (swimmer)
Colin Russell (born July 2, 1984) is a Canadian competitive swimmer and freestyle specialist. Russell won a silver medal in the 4x200-metre freestyle relay at the 2005 World Aquatics Championships. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he competed in the 200 metre freestyle (finishing fourteenth), 4x100-metre freestyle relay (finishing sixth), and 4x200-metre freestyle relay (finishing fifth). Ian Crocker
Ian Lowell Crocker (born August 31, 1982) is an American former competition swimmer, five-time Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder. During his career, he set world records in the 50- and 100-meter butterfly (long course and short course) and the 100-meter freestyle (short course). He has won a total of twenty-one medals in major international competition, spanning the Olympics, the FINA World Aquatics Championships, and the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. He coached for many years at the Western Hills Athletic Club and has helped coach the Longhorns swim camp in 2019 as well as other years. Since Spring of 2022 when the new facility opened, Crocker coaches at the Western Aquatics and Social Club at the Eanes Independent School District Aquatics center. Klete Derik Keller (born March 21, 1982) is an American convicted felon and former competitive swimmer. Before retiring from swimming in 2008, Keller won five Olympic medals, including two golds, at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400-meter freestyle and the 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Richard Say (born May 18, 1979) is a three-time Olympic and National record-holding swimmer from Canada. Say swam as a child for the Salmon Arm Sockeye Swim Club with his two brothers and two sisters. At the age of 18, he began attending the University of Victoria and started to swim seriously. Say became a mainstay of the National Swim Team, starting in 1998.
