Major League Lacrosse
Major League Lacrosse (MLL) was a men's field lacrosse league in the United States. The league's inaugural season was in 2001. Teams played anywhere from ten to 16 games in a summertime regular season. This was followed by a four-team playoff for the championship trophy, the Steinfeld Trophy, named after founder Jake Steinfeld. League attendance peaked at 6,417 in 2011 and the 2019 average was 4,587. The Chesapeake Bayhawks and New York Lizards (originally the Baltimore Bayhawks and Long Island Lizards) were MLL members throughout its existence and competed in the first three championship games, with the Lizards winning two. The Boston Cannons, the last of the six charter franchises to remain in their original market with their original name, won their first championship in 2011. The Philadelphia Barrage returned to the league in 2020 after an 11-season hiatus. After moving from Bridgeport to Philadelphia, the Barrage won three championships in four years from 2004 to 2007. Joe Walters
Joe Walters (born November 30, 1984) is an American former professional lacrosse player. Walters is part of the 2022 class of the Rochester Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Early life Walters, the youngest of four children was born to Joe and Be Walters. His father, Joe, served with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. Walter's father met Be in Vietnam. Walters attended Irondequoit High School in his hometown of Irondequoit, New York. College career Walters was a four-time All-American at the University of Maryland. He won the ACC Rookie of the Year Award in 2003, and was named ACC Player of the Year in 2004. In the last game of his senior regular season with the Terps, Walters became the University of Maryland's all-time leading point scorer with 227 and all-time leading goal scorer with 153. Kyle Dixon (lacrosse)
Kyle Dixon (born November 26, 1984) is a professional lacrosse player with the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse. He played high school lacrosse for Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland. College career Dixon played college lacrosse at the University of Virginia from 2003 to 2006. He won two Division I National Championships while with the Cavaliers, in 2003 and 2006. Dixon was selected as a second-team All American during his junior season and a first-team All-American during his senior season while also being nominated as a Tewaaraton Trophy finalist. Sean Morris
Sean Paul Morris (born September 10, 1983, in Marshfield, Massachusetts) is a professional lacrosse player with the Boston Cannons of the Major League Lacrosse, and the Boston Blazers in the National Lacrosse League. He founded Laxachusetts, Legacy Lacrosse, BostonLax.net and has recently launched TheLocker.com. Amateur career Morris played collegiate lacrosse at University of Massachusetts. Morris initially enrolled at Rutgers University, but transferred and played his four years of eligibility at UMass. Morris lead the Minuteman to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship game in 2006. Matt Ward (born March 30, 1983) is an American lacrosse player who played at the University of Virginia and played for the Washington Bayhawks (currently the Chesapeake Bayhawks). He is also a member of the #CPMC (Classic Pure Michigan Classic). Bill McGlone
Bill McGlone (born April 24, 1984) is a professional lacrosse player from Ridley, Pennsylvania. McGlone plays for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse and the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. Collegiate career McGlone was a three-time All-American for the University of Maryland Terps, and twice named to the All-ACC team. In 2006, he was the only repeat first team USILA All-American selection from the 2005 team. He was also the first team captain selected as a junior in 30 years and retained the position his senior in 2006. Matt Zash (born October 18, 1983 in Massapequa, New York) is a retired lacrosse player, formerly of the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League, and of the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. He plans to wed in the summer of 2014 and move to Bangladesh to start an orphanage and raise the awareness of Lacrosse across Asia. Collegiate Zash played under Coach Mike Pressler at Duke University, where he helped lead the Blue Devils to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship game in 2005. Greg Peyser
Gregory Robert Peyser (born September 7, 1983 in Lloyd Harbor, New York) is an American professional lacrosse player with the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. Peyser also played with the Orlando Titans and New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League. He played collegiate lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University. He plays midfield and is known as a face-off specialist. Collegiate career Peyser was a team captain as a senior while playing for the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. Matt Poskay (born January 13, 1984) is an American professional lacrosse player who played with the Boston Cannons and New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). Poskay attended Arthur L. Johnson High School (Clark, New Jersey), where he set a national high school record for goals scored in his career. He played his collegiate lacrosse at the University of Virginia, where he won collegiate national titles in both 2003 and 2006. He was part of the MLL championship team in 2011 with the Cannons. Poskay scored 468 points during his high school career, a New Jersey state record that stood was broken by Canyon Birch, who graduated from Manasquan High School in 2019 with 558 points. Geoff Snider
Geoff Snider (born 2 April 1981) is a retired Canadian lacrosse player from Calgary, Alberta. Amateur career Growing up, Snider played for the Calgary Hornets in the Calgary District Lacrosse Association. His junior lacrosse career began with the Burnaby Lakers of the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League. In 1998, 2000 and 2002, he helped the Lakers win the Minto Cup as Canada's champion junior men's lacrosse team. He continued to play with the Senior "A" Coquitlam Adanacs in the Western Lacrosse Association, leading them to win the 2007 WLA championship. Brett Moyer
Brett Moyer (born January 1, 1984) of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania is a professional lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League, and the Philadelphia Barrage in the Major League Lacrosse. Moyer was a three-time All American at Hofstra University. Collegiate career Moyer attended Hofstra University where he was a starter for four years, and a three-time All-American. While at Hofsta, he was named CAA Defender of the Year twice (in 2005 and 2006).
