The 2006 Gran Premio Telmex was the fourteenth and final round of the 2006 Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season, held on November 12, 2006, on the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, Mexico. The pole was won by Justin Wilson, while the race was won by season champion Sébastien Bourdais, his seventh victory of the year. Gran Premio Tecate
The Gran Premio Tecate was a round of the Champ Car World Series held on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City, Mexico. It was first held in 1980, and in its first two years of competition was the penultimate round of the championship. After its re-inception in 2002, it was the season-ending round. It was to have been the penultimate round of the 2007 season, but became the final round when the Grand Prix Arizona was cancelled. 2007 race During the 2007 race, three drivers failed to get going off the grid. Also, Robert Doornbos — placed 3rd in the Champ Car point standings entering the race — had car problems early and was out of the race by lap 10, although he returned later to trying and accomplish the fastest lap of the race and secure an extra bonus point toward the championship. David Martínez (racing Driver)
David Martínez (born December 8, 1981 in Monterrey) is a Mexican racing driver. He holds the record for the best debut ever by a Mexican driver in a premiere open-wheel series (IndyCar, Champ Car World Series, F1) with his 9th place finish at the 2006 Gran Premio Telmex (a record he now shares with Patricio O'Ward, who also finished 9th on debut at the 2018 Indycar Grand Prix of Sonoma). Andreas Wirth
Andreas Wirth (born 19 November 1984 in Heidelberg) is a German racing driver. In 2004 Wirth won the Formula BMW USA championship after coming state-side, and then advanced to the Champ Car Atlantics in 2005 where he raced for two years, winning three races and finishing 6th and 3rd in the championship. Following up a full 2006 season in Atlantics, Wirth was named to compete in his first Champ Car race in Dale Coyne Racing's entry at Surfer's Paradise, where he finished in 9th place. He then went on to race with Coyne in Mexico City. In 2008 he ran in the Petit Le Mans with PTG Panoz. For seven seasons Wirth competed in the ADAC GT Masters series where he tallied a total of 9 victories. Dale Coyne Racing (DCR) is an American professional open-wheel racing team that currently competes in the IndyCar Series. The team was founded in 1984 and is owned by former driver Dale Coyne. Andrew Ranger (born November 20, 1986) is a Canadian professional racing driver who competes full-time in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, driving the No. 27 for Paillé Course//Racing. Conquest Racing is an auto racing team that competed in the IndyCar Series and the Atlantic Championship. Formerly it competed in the Champ Car World Series. Rocketsports Racing was a motor racing team based in East Lansing, Michigan in the United States. Team history Rocketsports was founded in 1985 by racing driver Paul Gentilozzi to compete in the Trans-Am series. It competed in Trans-Am until 2004, when the championship was cancelled, and achieved 57 outright wins in 20 years. It has also raced in the IMSA sports car racing championship. Rocketsports joined Champ Car in 2003 with driver Alex Tagliani, who scored the team's only victory at Road America in 2004.
