2006 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0
The 2006 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season was the sixteenth Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season. The season began at Zolder on 29 April and finished at the Barcelona on 29 October, after fourteen rounds. Motopark Academy's Filipe Albuquerque who took a pair of double wins at Nürburgring and Barcelona clinched the championship title in the final round at Barcelona by eight points ahead of JD Motorsport's Chris van der Drift, who won two races during the season at Misano and Donington Park. Van der Drift also finished as top rookie. Carlo van Dam finished in third for SG Formula, after win at Le Mans and another four podiums. Another driver who won on Bugatti Circuit was Bertrand Baguette who finished two points behind van Dam for Epsilon Euskadi. Kasper Andersen completed the top five without scoring a win. Daniel Clos Álvarez (born 23 October 1988) is a Spanish professional racecar driver who was, in 2012, the test driver for the now defunct HRT Formula One team. Career Karting Born in Barcelona, Clos was a fairly successful karter at the ICA Junior level of karting, winning firstly the Catalan district of the Spanish ICA Junior Championship in 2001, beating a field including the brother of former Formula Three Euroseries rival Daniel Campos-Hull, Oliver. Julien Jousse (born 21 January 1986 in Les Issambres) is a professional racing driver from France. Career Formula Ford After spending time in karting between 1997 and 2001, Jousse began has circuit racing career in 2002 in the Formula Ford Kent series. Sten Pentus (born 3 November 1981 in Tallinn) is an Estonian racing driver. He is a former Estonian Formula 4 Champion, and a previous winner of the Formula Baltic championship in a Reynard 903. At the end of the 2008 season, Pentus tested for GP2 Series teams DPR and Racing Engineering with respectable results considering his previous racing experience. In November, he tested with Fortec Motorsport in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series test in Valencia and again impressed, comparing favourably with F3 graduates Edoardo Mortara and Jaime Alguersuari during the two days. Tom Dillmann (born 6 April 1989 in Mulhouse) is a French racing driver, formerly competing for Nio Formula E Team, in Formula E. He is probably best known for winning the German Formula Three Championship in the 2010 season and the Formula V8 3.5 Championship in the 2016 3.5 season.
