Brisbane Lions
The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. The Lions are one of the most successful AFL club of the 2000s, appearing in four consecutive Grand Finals from 2001 to 2004 and winning three premierships ( 2001, 2002, 2003). They play home matches at the Gabba, which was also the site of their offices and training facilities until moving these to Springfield Central Stadium in Ipswich in 2022. Southport Australian Football Club, nicknamed the Sharks, is an Australian rules football club based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, that competes in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Southport is one of the most successful football clubs in Queensland, having claimed 22 senior-grade premierships across multiple competitions since it was established in 1961. It competed in the Gold Coast Australian Football League between 1961 and 1982, and then moved to the Queensland Australian Football League. North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed The Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. Jason Roe
Jason Roe (born 13 March 1984) is an indigenous and former Australian rules football player for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally playing for Nightcliff Football Club in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL), then the Cairns City Cobras in the 2001–2002 seasons, Roe was selected in the 2002 rookie draft by the Collingwood Football Club and placed on its rookie list. He was delisted at the end of 2003 having not played an AFL game, and moved to South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club North Adelaide. He was given a second chance at AFL level and was placed on the Brisbane Lions rookie list in the 2006 rookie draft. Ben Fixter (born 23 June 1981) is an Australian rules football player who played with the Sydney and Brisbane Football Clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Ben played with the Charles Sturt University Football Club in the Farrer Football League, a semi-professional football league based in the Riverina region of New South Wales. AFL career Ben was recruited by the Sydney Swans as the number 6 draft pick in the 1999 AFL Draft from the NSW/ACT Rams. He made his debut for the Swans in Round 18, 2000 against Melbourne. His career at Sydney was plagued by constant injury, limiting him to 27 games over four seasons.
