2006 Archery World Cup
The 2006 Archery World Cup was the first edition of the international archery circuit, designed to highlight archery in some of the world's "most spectacular" locations following the success of the 2003 World Championships in New York City and the 2004 Summer Olympics. The best individual and mixed performers in each discipline over the three legs then joined host representatives in qualifying for the finals. Competition rules and scoring The compound legs consisted of a 50m qualification round of 72 arrows, followed by the compound round at 50m on a 6-zone target face, using cumulative scoring for all individual, team and mixed competitions. Archery World Cup
The Archery World Cup is a competition, started in 2006, organized by the World Archery Federation, where the archers compete in four stages in four countries and the best eight archers of each category (from 2010, four archers during 2006-09) advance to an additional stage to contest the Archery World Cup Final. This form of competition was introduced following the success of the 2003 World Archery Championships in New York and the 2004 Summer Olympics with the intent of making the sport more popular and attractive to spectators, with the matches being held in 'spectacular' locations and the final matches being broadcast online. Margarita Viktorovna Galinovskaya (russian: Маргарита Викторовна Галиновская, born April 19, 1968) is a Russian archer. She competed in the women's individual and team events at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Galinovskaya represented Russia at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She placed 15th in the women's individual ranking round with a 72-arrow score of 639. In the first round of elimination, she faced 40th-ranked fellow Russian Elena Dostay. Pieter Custers
Pieter Johan Jozef Maria Custers (born 13 March 1984 in Weert) is an athlete from the Netherlands, who competes in archery. He was a member of the Dutch junior archery team, that won the European championship in 2001. Competing on the senior team, Custers helped the team win the silver medal in the 2002 European championships. The team came sixth in the 2003 world championship. The 2004 European championships resulted in a bronze medal for Custers in the individual competition as well as a gold medal in the team competition. This qualified the squad for Olympic competition in Athens 2004. Wietse Van Alten
Wietse Cornelis van Alten (born 24 September 1978) is a retired archer from the Netherlands. Van Alten was born in Zaandam, in the municipality of Zaanstad. He has competed in archery since the age of seven. Van Alten's first major international competition was the 1999 World Target Competition. He placed 8th there, earning a spot on the Olympic team. In the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, van Alten lost to Simon Fairweather of Australia in the semifinals, but rebounded with the highest score of the tournament for a 12-arrow match by scoring 114 in the bronze medal match to defeat Magnus Petersson of Sweden and win the bronze medal. The Netherlands team, of which he was a member, placed 9th in the men's team competition. is a Japanese athlete who competes in archery, who is a former world number one. He won a bronze medal in archery at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Yamamoto competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first three elimination matches, advancing to the quarterfinals. He has won gold medals at the three major World Archery Federation events ( Olympics, World Archery Championships and World Cup finals) and is a former world number one. He is married to archer Park Sung-hyun. 2004 Summer Olympics Park competed for Korea at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first three elimination matches, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Park faced Tim Cuddihy of Australia, losing to the eventual bronze medalist 112-111 in the 12-arrow match.
