2006 ABA National Finals
The 2006 ABA National Finals brought together the best men's and women's basketball teams from the Waratah League, South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), Queensland Australian Basketball League (QABL), Central Australian Basketball League (CABL) and Big V competitions for their shot at national glory, with the event held at the Broadmeadow Basketball Stadium in Newcastle, New South Wales. Australia's largest basketball competition, the Australian Basketball Association (ABA), commenced in March with 116 teams competing across six states and territories (Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and ACT) culminating in the National Finals in September in Newcastle. In a weekend of top-level basketball, the Geelong Supercats and Ballarat Miners were triumphant in the men's and women's finals. Shawn Myers
Shawn Myers (born 26 May 1969) is a Trinidadian-American-British former professional basketball player. After playing college basketball between 1987 and 1991, Myers had an extensive professional career playing in Europe while also having stints in Australia and New Zealand. Between 1997 and 2001, Myers played in Lithuania, Finland and Iceland before moving to Britain where he began a long-term career in the British Basketball League (BBL). Between 2001 and 2013, he appeared in every BBL season for various teams including the Chester Jets and the Cheshire Jets. Cameron Tovey
Cameron Tovey (born 26 June 1985) is an Australian former professional basketball player. He played a season of college basketball in the United States for the Augusta Jaguars before playing eight seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL) between 2005 and 2013. He also played many years in the State Basketball League (SBL), winning an SBL championship in 2010 with the Willetton Tigers. Early life Tovey was born in Penang, Malaysia. Nathan Crosswell
Nathan Crosswell (born 3 August 1979) is an Australian former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball League from 1999 to 2013. During his 14-year career in the NBL, Crosswell played for the Melbourne Tigers, Victoria Giants, Cairns Taipans, Townsville Crocodiles and Adelaide 36ers. Crosswell won his only NBL championship with the Tigers in the 2007–08 NBL season. Professional career Crosswell started his NBL career with the Melbourne Tigers in 1999. Bradford Ernest Sullivan (November 18, 1931 – December 31, 2008) was an American character actor on film, stage and television. Lester Strong (born Lester Franklin Strong, circa 1949) was a reporter and news anchor at WHDH-TV from June 1984 until 2000. He was also the host of a public affairs show called Urban Update.
