2005–06 UCI Asia Tour
The 2005–06 UCI Asia Tour was the second season of the UCI Asia Tour. The season began on 28 September 2005 with the Tour of Milad du Nour and ended on 16 September 2006 with the 2006 Asian Cycling Championships. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Asia Tour cycling jersey. Andrey Mizurov from Kazakhstan was the defending champion of the 2005 UCI Asia Tour. Ghader Mizbani of Iran was crowned as the 2005–06 UCI Asia Tour champion. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world. Tour Of Qatar
The Tour of Qatar was an annual professional cycling stage race held in Qatar. First organized in 2002, the event was part of the UCI Asia Tour until 2016. The 2017 edition was to have seen the event upgraded to the UCI World Tour for the first time, but it was cancelled due to lack of sponsorship support. The event consisted of a men's competition over five stages, and, since 2009, a women's competition over four stages – held a week before the men's race. Because Qatar is entirely flat, the tour was almost always won by a sprinter or classics specialist. Tom Boonen (; born 15 October 1980) is a Belgian former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 2002 and 2017 for the and teams and a professional racing driver who currently competes in Belcar, having previously competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Boonen won the 2005 UCI World Road Race Championships, and was a single-day road specialist with a strong finishing sprint. Li Fuyu ( zh, 李富玉; born May 9, 1978) is a Chinese former professional road bicycle racer, who currently works as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental team . Career Li rode with from 2005 to 2006, before switching to the Pro Tour under coach Johan Bruyneel for the 2007 season. The Discovery Channel team was disbanded at the end of the highly successful 2007 season, and Li moved on to the newly re-established China-based for the 2008 season. Wu Kin San (; born May 4, 1985, in Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong professional road cyclist, who last rode for the team. Professional career Wu began cycling at the age of twelve, and having shown his great talent and passion for sport, turned pro just 8 years later. In 2005, he claimed numerous titles road race at the Tour of South China Sea in Macau and Hong Kong, while playing for Purapharm Cycling Team. A year later, Wu signed a contract with to undergo a training in Milan, Italy.
