2005–06 Bundesliga
The 2005–06 Bundesliga was the 43rd season of the Bundesliga, Germany's premier football league. It began on 5 August 2005 and concluded on 13 May 2006. Teams Eighteen teams competed in the league – the top fifteen teams from the previous season and the three teams promoted from the 2. Bundesliga. The promoted teams were 1. FC Köln, MSV Duisburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt returned to the top flight after an absence of one year while MSV Duisburg returned in the top flight after an absence of six years. The Bundesliga (; ), sometimes referred to as the Fußball-Bundesliga () or 1. Bundesliga (), is a professional association football league in Germany. At the top of the German football league system, the Bundesliga is Germany's primary football competition. The Bundesliga comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the 2. Bundesliga. Seasons run from August to May. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Bielefelder Alm () is a football stadium in Bielefeld, Germany. The stadium, which has a capacity of 26 515, is owned by the football club DSC Arminia Bielefeld and mostly used for the club's matches. Formerly named Stadion Alm , it is currently known as SchücoArena due to a sponsorship deal with the Bielefeld-based window and solar panel manufacturers.
