In 2005–06 season A.C. Milan, Associazione Calcio Milan had a rather modest season compared to its previous seasons, before being rocked by a minor involvement in the 2006 Italian football scandal, where rivals Juventus F.C., Juventus was relegated and stripped of two league titles. Due to Milan's involvement, it did not inherit either of the titles, instead being penalised and dropped down the 2006 order, initially out of European football but later reinstated into fourth, which meant UEFA Champions League qualification, a tournament Milan then went on to 2006–07 UEFA Champions League, win. However, Milan started the 2006–07 Serie A season with an eight-point deduction, which complicated hopes of a new league title. Due to a 2006 Italian football scandal, match fixing scandal, the Serie A title was awarded to Inter Milan instead of Juventus F.C., Juventus, and were also relegated to Serie B the following season for the first time in its history. Johann Vogel (footballer)
Johann Louis François Vogel (born 8 March 1977) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He spent most of his professional with Grasshopper Club Zürich and PSV. In his later career, he played for Milan, Betis, and Blackburn Rovers before returning to Grasshoppers. At international level, he amassed 94 caps scoring twice for the Switzerland national team. Valerio Fiori (born 27 April 1969) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach. He is currently a goalkeeping coach for Serie A club Genoa. Alberto Gilardino (; born 5 July 1982) is an Italian professional football manager and a former player who played as a striker. He is currently in charge as caretaker of Genoa, a club he was contracted with on July 2022 as a youth coach. A prolific goalscorer, in Gilardino's early career he was compared to Filippo Inzaghi due to his opportunism, positional sense and eye for goal. Alessandro Costacurta (born 24 April 1966) is an Italian football pundit, manager and a former professional defender, who usually played as a centre back.
