2005 World Series Of Poker
The 2005 World Series of Poker opened play on June 2nd, continuing through the Main Event No Limit World Championship starting on July 7th. The conclusion of the Main Event on July 15th marked the close of play, and the largest prize in sports and/or television history at the time ($7,500,000) was awarded to the winner. ESPN's broadcast began July 19th with coverage of WSOP Circuit Tournaments, and coverage of the Main Event began October 11th and ended November 15th. All events were held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino with the exception of the final 2 days of the Main Event which were held at Binion's Horseshoe. This marked the last time the Main Event final table was held at Binion's Horseshoe. Events Main Event There were 5,619 entrants to the main event. John Lukas
John Lukas is an American poker player who has won two bracelets at the World Series of Poker. He won his first bracelet in 1983, in the $1,000 Limit Razz event, earning $43,000. Lukas won his second bracelet in 1985, in the $1,000 Limit Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event, earning $74,500. Since his victories at the WSOP, he has cashed in numerous poker tournaments, as well as playing in cash games. Cliff D. Josephy is an American professional poker player from Muttontown, New York. At the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Josephy won a bracelet in the $1,500 seven-card stud event, defeating fellow professional Kirill Gerasimov in the final heads-up confrontation. Phil Gordon (poker Player)
Philip Stewart Gordon (born July 6, 1970) is an American professional poker player, commentator and author. Personal life Gordon was born in El Paso, Texas. He spent his formative years in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Gordon began attending Georgia Tech at the age of 15 while still attending high school. At the end of the 11th grade and after being awarded the National Merit Scholarship, Gordon dropped out of high school and attended Georgia Tech full-time. Gordon graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. degree in computer science in 1991. After stints working at Santa Cruz Operation and Lockheed, Gordon joined start-up Netsys Technologies as their first hired employee. Pascal Perrault
Pascal Perrault (born 1959) is a French professional poker player, who specialises in tournament play. His nickname "Triple P" is short for Pascal "Poison" Perrault, a reference to his other profession as a pharmacist. He first made the money in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 1998, where he made the final table of the $3,000 No Limit Hold-Em tournament and won $14,250 after outlasting opposition including Liam Flood and Chris Ferguson. Shane J. Schleger (born 1977 in New York City, New York) is a former professional poker player from New York City. Schleger was a member of Team PokerStars from 2011 – 2014. David Pham
David Pham (born February 10, 1967 in South Vietnam), is a Vietnamese-American professional poker player from Bell Gardens, California with three World Series of Poker bracelets who has made seven final tables at the World Poker Tour. Early life Pham was born in South Vietnam and fled to the United States at the age of 17 in a boat carrying 145 people of which only 46 survived the journey. Maciek ("Michael" or "Mike") Gracz (pronounced Grahtz) (born October 23, 1980 in Warsaw) is a Polish professional poker player, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Charidimos (Harry) Demetriou (born 20 August 1958 in London) is a Greek Cypriot-British poker player.
