The 2005 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup was held from 8 to 19 June 2005 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It was the fourth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament and was attended by twelve countries. The intercontinental event served as a qualifier for the 2006 FIVB World Grand Prix. Yudelkys Bautista (born 5 December 1974, in Santo Domingo) is a retired volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. She competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, wearing the number #3 jersey. There, she ended up in eleventh place with the Dominican Republic women's national team. Bautista played as a middle blocker. Career Bautista won the gold medal with the national squad at the 2003 Pan American Games and was selected the "Most Valuable Player". Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a Continental Cup organized by NORCECA with teams from all over America ( North-, South- and Central America, and the Caribbean), that served as a qualifier for the World Grand Prix. The tournament also granted places for the Final Four Women's Volleyball Cup. Now, the event serves as an America qualifier for the Pan American Games classification. Yumilka Ruíz
Yumilka Daysi Ruíz Luaces (born 8 May 1978 in Camagüey) is a retired volleyball player from Cuba, who represented her native country in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996. She twice won a gold medal with the national team in 1996 and 2000; she also claimed the bronze at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Career She played the 2004/05 season with the Russian club Uralochka-NTMK, where she set the record of scoring 53 points in a single match. She retired in 2008 aged 30. Nancy Jean Metcalf (née Meendering; born November 12, 1978) is an American indoor volleyball player. She represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where she finished in fifth place with the USA National Team. She missed the 2008 Olympics with a torn labrum, and was not named to the national team in 2012. Early life Nancy Meendering is the second of four children born to Harry and Dee Meendering. She attended Western Christian High School, where she earned two state titles in volleyball and made it to the all-state squad three times. In addition, she is Western's career leader in kills, kills per game and blocks. She was inducted into the Iowa Sports Hall of Fame in May 2012. Ana Mercado (born , in Tepic) is a retired Mexican female volleyball player. She was part of the Mexico women's national volleyball team. At the 2005 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Mercado was awarded for the best server.
