The race started in Benalmádena and finished in Chiclana de la Frontera. The race was won by Francisco Cabello. Juan Manuel Gárate Cepa (born 24 April 1976 in Irun) is a Spanish professional road racing cyclist, who last rode for the team. He is perceived to be a climbing specialist, and to date his greatest achievements have been in the Giro d'Italia, where he placed fourth overall in 2002, tenth overall in the 2004, fifth overall in 2005 and won the Mountains classification with a seventh overall at the 2006 Giro d'Italia. David Cañada
David Cañada Gracia (11 March 1975 – 28 May 2016) was a Spanish professional road racing cyclist. His win at the 2006 Volta a Catalunya is his best career accomplishment. In the 2005 Tour de France, he was in a break-away on stage 2 (the first open road stage); he attacked on the climb near the finish but was overhauled by Bouygues Télécom's Thomas Voeckler. Cañada was unable to compete in the 2009 season, due to treatment for skin cancer which had been detected in 2007, and retired early in the 2010 season, having been unable to find a team. He died unexpectedly at the age of 41 after a fall during a cyclosportive. Manuel Beltrán
Manuel Beltrán Martinez (born 28 May 1971) is a former professional road bicycle racer from Spain. His finishes in the Tour de France are somewhat misleading as he was a lieutenant for his team leader. He was the team leader for numerous Vuelta a España rides and performed well. Beltrán tested positive for EPO after the first stage of the 2008 Tour de France, according to ''L'Équipe'' 11 July 2008. The same date as the news broke, a spokesman for his team Liquigas said he would be suspended from the team and thrown out of that year's tour. It was later confirmed that his B-sample also tested positive. Beltrán was suspended for two years. In 2010, he had to pay his former team 100.000 euros because of his positive doping test in the Tour de France.
