Vietnamese Super League
The V.League 1 ( vi, Giải bóng đá vô địch quốc gia, lit=National Football League), also called Night Wolf V.League 1 due to sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football league in Vietnam, controlled by the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company. It is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing at the top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League. The league was founded in 1980 as the All Vietnam Football Championship, with Tổng Cục Đường Sắt emerging as the first winner. The league turned professional in the 2000–01 season, which allowed clubs to hire foreign players. Vietnam Professional Football (VPF) was established in 2012, and the organising power was transferred from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to Vietnam Professional Football Jointstock Company (VPF). 2006 AFC Champions League
The 2006 AFC Champions League was the 25th edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament and the 4th edition under the current AFC Champions League title. Al-Ittihad qualified automatically to the quarter-finals as Cup holders. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors won their first AFC Champions League title after beating Al-Karamah 3–2 on aggregate in the final. Jeonbuk also became the first team in history of Asia to have won the Champions League before the national league title (they won their first K League championship three years later, in 2009). Huỳnh Kesley Alves
Huỳnh Kesley Alves or Kesley Alves (born 23 December 1981) is a Vietnamese-Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Vietnamese club Becamex Bình Dương. Playing career In 2005, he came to Vietnam and signed for Becamex Bình Dương from Matsubara in 2005 and became one of the greatest foreigners in the V-League. He gained Vietnamese citizenship in 2009 and earned one cap with Vietnam national football team. Alves announced his retirement in 2019. He became the assistant manager of Becamex Bình Dương in 2021, before he was registered in the club’s squad list for the second part of the season during the 2022 season, making his comeback from retirement.
